Loose headlight bulb issue

My lens and bulb on my 2006 Mastiff is loose, like it's missing a spacer or something. I can wiggle it in and out about ¼ of an inch. The trim ring seems tight, I can't move it. I have put every size allen wrench that I have, metric and standard, in the little hole on the bottom of the light and if there is an allen screw in there somewhere I can’t find it. Anyone know how to get the trim ring out?

There are 2 allen heads on the bottom of the bucket. you want to remove the one closest to the lens. after that is out, use a latex glove or whatever kind of glove and turn the trim ring counter clockwise. i was missing a washer myself. go to big dog performance website and get a schematic of the headlight housing. i was missing the the washer directly behind the lens. its optional but i needed it.

See that's the problem, I can only find one hole on bottom of mine, and can't get an allen wrench to fit into anything inside it.
Looks like the hole I have is not the one closest to the lens.
Thanks for the link to bdm, I had saw that before and agree I am probably missing one of the parts, just cant get it apart to find out which one. I am not where I can go look at it right now, but I don't remember seeing anything between the chrome ring and the lens, the exploded view shows a washer and two o-rings.
I originally thought that the ring was just loose, but I can't turn it, can't find the lock screw for the ring, and it looks like it is screwed in flush with the outside.

The 2 rings in the front are the o-rings that fit snug on the washers. you need the thick one behind the lens is my guess. if there is no hole in the front, you just need elbow grease and some non slip gloves. once you get the trim ring off, you do need a special tool to unwind the next washer. or an awl would to the trick

My headlight must be different than everyone else’s, again, my headlight only has one hole, it does not have the forward hole at the threads. I was hoping someone else had one like mine.
It is the hooded round headlight like on most every Big Dog I have seen, and almost just like the one shown in the exploded views, mine just doesn’t have a forward hole or any allen screw in the only hole it does have.
I will post pictures when I get back home in two weeks.

Sounds like you have the Adjure headlight bucket. That headlight bucket looks like the BDM Original and has only one whole. That whole is used to thread a thick Plastic retainer line. It feed in and holds the front ring. Yes the lense will have some in and out play about 1/8 of an inch. If can you bend the spring or tension ring a little and it will put more tension on the lense and keep it from moving in and out. The light bulb fits inside the Lense and that should not be loose. Mine has worked fine for the past 3 years or so without issues. The reason I changed mine out was because them there little allen screws are hard to find in the Grass :bang::bang: after replacing the bulb. So I said enough of this shit, got me an Adjure bucket and sold the original one :2thumbs:

Thanks Carlos! that must be what I have, I got the scooter used and I am finding that it has several upgrades. Do you know how to take this headlight apart to replace the bulb?

From that last pic, it appears that your ring is not completely screwed in place. I don't recall ever seeing threads exposed on the ring once it is installed. You may want to spray it with WD-40 and see if it will loosen up enough to let you turn it in either direction. With the ring already exposed on the bottom, you may be able to "gently" use a pair of pliers to get a grip on the bottom to help turn it.

Agreed! I would go ahead and twist it off and clean the threads on the housing they collect a lot of dirt and makes it impossible for the ring to seat properly.

Sorry Bearman, but that is not the headlight that came with my 2006 Mastiff. I replaced mine with an Adjure and still doesn't like like that WOW, don't know what to tell you. Maybe with the pictures someone can chime in :2thumbs:
