I Hate Billet!

I know that many here have stated that thier Billet aluminum looks as good as Chrome.

But my bike has been parked in the garage since earley November( winter climate).

Over the Winter I polished every part on my bike. I chose Mother's billet aluminum polish as it does not contain ammonia ( a known snake oil product, that damages aluminum). I have also tried the many many other products that folks here have found.

Yet I was inspecting my bike today, many parts that were all polished like chrome, have become hazy looking again (keep in mind the bike has never left the garage!).

Does cold temperature itself effect billet??? I want chrome... but the cost of chrome is... well you know.... not cheap.

I hate to say it but I got rid of every piece of billet aluminum. I think maybe two pieces left are still billet. Anyways, it was pricey to have them chromed but no more spending time polishing. Wipe and go.......love all the chrome!!!

Ken, I have a suggestion, pick up some S100 at your local Harley dealer along with some Mothers Liquid polish, spray the S100 on a spa towel with the along with the Mothers and I beleive that will do two things, remove the haze and prevent it from returning. I live in St. Louis, my bike sits in the garage and I don't have any problems. My bike is highly polished like yours (saw your pics), I think between the S100 and the Mothers those two together act like a cleaner and perservative

I have found that if I seal with a synthetic wax ( not natural like carnauba) right after I polish, I can get a couple seasons in at least before I have to polish again. When I do polish it is not a major event.

I have good luck with Meguiars NXT for example.

Next time it rains, roll it out in the driveway and you will get over perfect billet real quick. It's like having a black paint job. If you expect perfection, your life will be a miserable failure.:D

S100 detail + wax and Mothers California Gold Carnuba liquid wax, the spa towels are at Autozone and will not scratch your billet like regular micro fiber. This will work for keeping the shine on your billet. I use these also for everyday clean up.
