Looks like a build date of (2911)
Wow I am actually surprised. That is great. I put both tires on last summer, so probably will not need a new rear until next year.....depending on how many miles I get in. It's been difficult riding in Colorado this winter....either well below freezing or 20+ inches of snow like last weeks storm.
Oh well, spring is coming!

All tires are stamped with a date stamp for cars, trucks, and bikes. The date code is a four digit number with the first 2 numbers representing the week of manufacture and the last 2 being the year.

Summer of 2010, I went to the HD Shop to get the front tire on the BD Chopper. They put on a new Avon tire and I was satisfied. Last week I detailed the bike and when I armor alled the tires I noticed cracks in the side wall. I am maticulous about keeping proper air presure in my tires. I brought the bike the next day to my mechanic to let him measure the primary to order the correct spacer. While I was there I had him look at the tire. He then pointed out the problem. The HD shop installed a 2008 avon. That is a 2 yr old tire at the time of installation! NOT COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I confronted them and they said, " well had you brought that to our attention before you drove off we would have done something, but when you left we have no way in knowing if that is truly our tire."
I would stand out front of the dealer with a sign ..... WTF typical Harley BS.

I'm a noob here to the forum, so maybe someone can help me out.

I have a 2006 K-9 with a 300/35/18 rear tire and it's time for a new one.

Can you list the tires, best to worse and prices or direct me to a link with that info.

Thanks

Go with the link in the thread to dennis kirk, they are selling fresh tires for a hell of a deal. I think they are sold out but hopefully you can get one shipped when the new ones come in at that some price.

Other than that your only option is a Meltzer 300 Series which will run you an extra $100+ over what that Avon is going for in this thread.

Also, I was just browsing the Dennis Kirk site, the Avon tire has minimial reviews (all positive - 4 Stars) it might be worthwhile to post some of the bad quality reviews in regards to the splitting many members have seen on that website. Might have more luck having a large vendor like Dennis Kirk pushing back to Avon. Just a thought....

Damn, I go a couple days without checking in here and missed the boat. :bang:

Backorder now. Hopefully they will continue a decent price when they get more in.

It's such a good deal, you may just want to drop it in your cart and pay for it now just to ensure you get it at that price. At least if you don't need a tire and dont mind waiting 1-2 months, at least you will be guaranteed a recent mfg date.
