If my speed sensor is bad will my calibration button stop working? Im trying to determine if i need a new speedo or just a new sensor.I would think it shouldnt matter if sensor is even plugged in to bench test it. Thanks in advance.

What calibration button are you talking about? Does the speedo sweep when you turn your ignition key on? The speed sensor is much less $$ than the speedo itself.

Dunno where to get a new speed sensor are they universal or big dog only parts?
That button is to reset your trip meter, not for the speedo itself. If it doesn't sweep, it sounds like its a bad speedo. You can put a thunderheart programable speed sensor in it and it will work well. They retail for around $110.

Mine on my 02 Prosport sweeps when key is on but will not work when wheel is turning...From the point of turning on the key and watching the needle sweep from 0 to 140 mph then back, I have it jacked up and put it in first gear and slowly let it the clutch out and nothing on the speedo. The needle doesn't move at all... any ideas?

a start would be,assuming the older ones are like the newer ones, to check for power and ground at both the speedo and the sensor. if that checks out you need to check the the third wire which is the signal wire.

Having the same issue, when the sensor stoped working the milage could not be switched from trip to milage. cleaned the connector and the sensor on the transmission. it workes now.

See that hole? Thats where the sensor mounts on the transmission. One screw holds the assembly on...:D :2thumbs:
