A/ F ratio, front cyl vs rear?

So when I snapped then replaced my clutch cable I had to pull the pipes. The front pipe at the cylinder was black while the rear was way lean white. This is a carb'd 07 chopper. My Warrior was fuel injected. With an ecu and power commander each cylinder was mapped individually for proper A/F mix.

I've been spoiled with technology. My Z and the Warrior, f/I with mapping. My RF, inline with a carb per cylinder. So now I've got one carb; two jugs... Should I be worried? Is there something to be done? Cool winter temps now. What happens in traffic come Florida summer?

Bump...

Help-a-brotha'out! I'll ask a new question... What's normal? I'm assuming front cooler = rear leaner. But by how much? A search got me little, but for one guy it was reversed. Wtf?

Can you balance a/f front to rear with one carb stuck between two cylinders?

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp!

I'm dyin', here.

I'll check my plugs after session. No, stock intake housing with a K&N.

Regardless... Generic questions:

Two jugs, 1 carb...

Is it just normal to have a leaner burn in the rear cylinder due to extra heat, etc, and we live with that? ie tune for safety at the back and let the front run rich.

Or...

Is there technique to balance out the burn front to rear?

No magic button.

I'm sure you checked for an intake leak at the manifold. That would definitely cause your symptoms.

An exhaust leak can return some fresh air to the jug. With some 2 into 1 headers I put 2 gaskets in the rear head to get a better seal.

Could do a leak down test to see if a valve isn't seating

If you thought my response of the forward facing intake was generic, I saw first hand on a dyno how facing it forward can lean out a cylinder. Turning it up showed instant gains.

Idea, IMO, is that with the curve of the 90 the flow continues that curve into the front head. Restricting the rear. Pointing it up showed instant gains

No kidding, I have had mine up and forward, my air cleaner that is. I suppose like you said it becaomes a turbulance or flow changer. NEAT :2thumbs:
