Speedo/Odom & gear issues

This will help.....you won't need to remove the tank to check the wires in the speedo housing, unless you want to check the connections under the tank and get some extra cable length to play with.

When I get stuck riding in the rain my Heim joints need to be lubed every time! I have trouble with the shifter falling flat instead of returning to its middle position.
Drove me nuts until I figured it out.

Update

Was having difficulty shifting into lower gears, read through this site and based on recommendations, I lubed the heims joints with lithium grease/silicone and gears are shifting smoothly now:2thumbs:



Also my speedo and odometer were not working plus bike struggled to start (big bore battery), so I orddered a new battery (braille) and swapped out tonight, after swapping, the bike would not start, no power at all, the battery was fully charged and reads 12.8volts. Before swapping out the bike started, now nothing. I made sure positive and negative cables were connected correctly. Any ideas would be appreciated. I added a couple pics.

Still no speedo/odom, I replaced battery, reads 12.8 and 14V running. I cleaned speed sensor and pulled apart speedo looking for bad wires...nothing. Is there a way to check power coming from speed sensor? Is it time to replace speedometer? When I turn on ifnition the speedo needle moves up to 30MPH then back to zero, lamp and RPMs work. Assistance appreciated.

? My 02 is inop as well. Doesnt sweep at all anymore.
