Need seat advice

I am trying to asses the value of a two up seat instead of a passsenger pillon from a comfort perspective.

I don't think that if it's one or two piece is relevant but clearly the shape size and amount of padding is.

Can those who have had both post up their feedback from there passengers?

Thanks JJ

I like my two up seat, but the woman doesn't. She says it slants forward so she is constantly sliding into me. We are both more comfortable with the single seat and passenger pillion so that's what we run.

A 2-up seat is much more comfortable than a pillion pad becaus it's wider. Plus you don't have to worry about it flying off the bike when a passenger is not riding along.

I would not let my GF ride on the pillion pad. Don't trust them and yes the fly off when your riding and there's nobody sitting on it.

We like the P-Pad, I had Scott put a gel pad in it when he re did it. Wife likes it now.

My wife likes the BD pillion pad more than the pillion seat on my HD Heritage softtail. Which surprized me because the HD is such a smoother ride.
I just hate using the pad on the BD because it puts small scratches the fender and I spend an hour buffing them out each time she rides with me. Hopefully shell just start riding the HD on her on.

To me the any bike looks better with a solo seat. Thats why I like to remove the pillion if the wife is not riding or it's in my garage where I look at it a couple times a day.

Good luck

I have both combinations. The solo seat is more comfortable to me as the driver, than the 2 up. BUT..the wife likes the 2 up over the pillion pad. She says it is much more comfortable than the P-pad.

"constantly sliding into me."

Is that's bad thing LOL?

Thanks for all the replys so far.

It seems fairly split so far. I am thinking I may try the pillon first, then see how the comfort goes.

Please continue to post your feedback.

It wouldnt be such a bad thing if it was the girlfriend sliding into me. Unfortunately its the wife sliding into me! Just kidding we aren't married. I just like the feel of no restrictions when I ride. Freedom of movement and what not. She doesn't like sliding into me because it makes it hard for her to lay against the sissy. On my old yamaha warrior I used to get annoyed when she would use my shoulder for a pillow when riding. We rode from Vegas to Mesquite doing 110 the entire way and she slept through it.

Get with Sterling Seats and he can build you a seriously comfortable seat, one that compliments your scoot, one your wife will love, and there are several options when building a seat that Sterling can walk you through.

Wife likes the 2 up Sterling built seat far better than the stock BDM 2 up seat and she was never fond of the pillion pad. However, she is also not fond of the way I ride so she rarely rides with me.:D

Also, my duffle bag is far more secure on the wider Sterling built 2 up seat and seeing as how I love to camp, the tent and duffel bag tend to go with me on weekend jaunts.

A quality custom built 2 up seat matched to your paint, gel and foam added and in the end you will have a very nice seat that is comfortable for the short 400 mile days or a longer 800 miler.

Let us know what you wind up doing...:2thumbs:
