Narow, thanks. I feel Ray on this one. You might have thought that BDM would have just put a 4.4 gal tank on both from the start. It would have been a very minor production change for them and made both model owners happy when it comes to this issue.

Putting a 4 gallon tank from a bike with a longer backbone on a bike that has a smaller tank isn't a "minor production change". since the frames are different, the mounts are different. Never worked in a motorcycle factory before have you?:job:

ACTUALLY NO I HAVEN'T. I'VE BEEN IN THE AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR WORLD FOR OVER 40 YEARS THOUGH. I MUST ADMIT THAT I HAVE NEVER HAD MY BIG DOG APART SO I GUESS MY KNOWLEDGE OF HOW IT'S BUILT IS NOT A STRONG AS YOURS. AFTER ALL IT WAS JUST A SUGGESTION QUESTION TO TRY AND GET SOME INPUT ON THE CONCEPT.

DOGVET, THIS FORUM EXSISTS TO HELP OTHER DOG OWNERS LEARN MORE ABOUT THE BIKES THEY OWN. WE PRIDE OURSELVES IN SHARING KNOWLEDGE . SO THANKS FOR YOUR INPUT. THIS WAS SOMETHING I WASN'T AWARE OF. OBVIOUSLY YOU HAVE WORKED IN A MOTORCYCLE FACTORY. WHICH ONE? WAS IT BIG DOG'S?

Sure would be nice if the puppy farm would put out a list of tanks, fenders etc that interchange, or can be swapped with minimal mods. :2thumbs:

I've got a couple of em under my belt. Between layoffs and just comin in and finding that the place is closed, it's tuff to make a career out of motorsickles. Judging by the capital letters, I've struck a nerve amongst you folks. I apologize. If things were simple, those of us who chose this industry as career wouldn't have to worry about the future.

I signed up on this site to share what I've learned over the years cuz manufacturers and dealers come and go at the drop of a hat these days.

sorry for gettin out of line!

No need for apologise! Not to mention that there are a lot of people that just find it easier to just leave the cap lock button engaged and type away.

Your imput is without a doubt awesome. Thanks for all.:2thumbs:

Absolutely DogVet. I wasn't aware of my caps lock error. It wasn't intenional. I am in this group to learn more about my beloved Big Dog. At my age (60) I'm sure it's my last motorcycle purchase so I want to learn as much as I can about it from the more experienced members here. Also to contribute as much help and info as I can. I really enjoy this website. I check it all day long at work and at home as time permits. I've already learned a lot about my Dog and look froward to learning a lot more. Also to whatever rides and events I can attend to expand my personal face to face realtionships wqith the members here.
