Will try to have more "Patience" with people in the future

My wife and I took a day trip earlier this week up to the mountains. We had a good day and was on our way back home. We stopped at a gas station that is just about right to get us back home without stopping again. It was late in the afternoon and the station/market was very busy. We were in my truck which burns diesel and they only had one diesel pump. We had to wait to even get to diesel pump, after moving a few times to get in where ever I could get closer you could not help but notice this older model buick, paint in bad shape, just sitting there with no one around it blocking the diesel pump! Several other folks had swiped the card, got gas, and left. We finally got to the diesel pump on the other side of the old car and as I was getting out, and kind of watching for the knucklehead blocking the pumps.I put the nozzle in my truck and turned around to see an old man and his grandson that looked like life had not been to kind to them walking up to the old buick. The grandson got in the car and the old man went towards the pump. he kind of reminded me of my grandfather, much smaller man , but some of the same character features where life had been tough. Then as I was scolding myself, keeping my mouth shut, looking away, I noticed them drive away. I am thinking that is odd he was just there for a minute or two. I stood there until my truck was full. Then I had to see just how much gas he really got, this is really bugging me. I walked over to the pumps on the other side and he had purchased $3.00 / 1 gallon of gas.
I a lot of things I have tremendous patience, other things not as much. I am going to try and do better in those areas not as much in the future. Actually I am not going to try to do better I am going to do better!

Everyone have Blessed new year!

I find it the older you get, the harder it is to be patient. Christmas afternoon our family did our annual tridition of going to the casino. We were having the buffet with I noticed this foul smell. I thought it was my son and after nearly an hour I jumped his ass. He claimed his innoceince so the search was on. At that time, I noticed an young Asian girl (20ish) sitting beside me with her shoes off and feet in the chair. As we we're leaving I turned to the young lady and told her "you have some stinking ass feet". She simply looked at me and said "I don't know why you are telling me this but thank you."
My wife wanted to kill me, however, she agreed with me. She also stated I needed more patience!

Good for you Ray. We all need to practice a little more patience, but what I really want to know is where is the hell did you find diesel for $3.00/gallan?

Brad, I don't think the old fella got Diesel he was in a older model buick. 3.00 a gallon for regular is still cheap though. Way to go Ray, I think I need more patience too. I think I'll work on that this year...:2thumbs::D

The old guy got a gallon of regular gas, it might not have beenm a whole gallon but I know it was just $3.00 worth of gas.If I had a do-over he would have left with his tank full. Diesel was I think around $3.62 That is a few cents cheaper than around here. I think the station across the road from this one was playing games with each other with the prices trying to get each others business.

Good for you. Sometimes we all need "to walk in the shoes" of those less fortunate.

Thanks for posting this because I too have found me to be more impatient as I grow older. Maybe now I will stop and think of this story.

Happy New Year to All!

I was watching a Showtime special "Brother's at War". It's about a civilian journalist that goes to Iraq to live a day in the lives of his two brothers who had made multiple trips to Iraq. He actually goes out on patrol. He talks to some of the other people serving in Iraq and one made a comment that really struck home for me. He said the last time he was stateside he was in Walmart and all he could hear where he went were people pissing and moaning about trivial bullshit and it really pissed him off cause once you make it back from a war zone in one piece, everything else is just gravey and nothing could make him get pissed off about such trivial stuff. Sure set me to thinking and I'm going to do my best from now on to quit getting pissed about trivial bullshit. That soldier was absolutely right and so is Ray. Thanks for the post Ray.

Wow that's sad 1 gallon might get him about 15-18 miles? I know what you mean about a resemblence to your grand father.
I see a guy from time to time at my local gas station that looks so much like my dad, who passed away 5 years ago. Old, frail walking very slow, but determined. I get so tempted to hug the guy! LOL

As I get older I find that my patience grows. I was a super hyper child, and still I have a "want it, and want it now" attitude, but I have found sitting in the woods waiting on a deer has helped me to slow down and learn to take notice of your surroundings. Never thought a hobby would teach me something that nothing else would. I still have to exercise patience with my teenagers, so god help me I hope I only get better at it!

Good Story, I hear that I need more "patience" all the time. I reply that if I wanted to have "patients", I would have been a doctor. So for the time being I'll keep kicking ass and taking names!!!!!
