Does anybody know if Karata is still in business? I tried the website with no luck. I sent Jim a PM a few weeks ago with no response. I'm hoping he's still around, try to order a 4" setup for my K-9.

Yes Karata is still around and IN Business .
My Personal Advice - Opinion and Reccomendation would be the BAKER Belt Drive Made Exclusively FOR Big Dogs.
Heres a few reasons why:
BAKER Is THE ONLY Unit with Hardened Stainless Steel Clutch Basket,Pinion,Ring gear and Crank Pulleys in 14 MM Tooth Depth for the Proprietary Belt Tooth Depth in 2.4 " wide.
Yes...Its a slimmer width belt (as opposed to the others offering a wider belt) but a WIDER Belt is insignificant in performance issues AND detrimental in Performance , Drag(centrifigul friction) & Wear concerns.
A Wider Belt will wear *faster* and cause excess drag coefficient issues as opposed to a slimmer belt that will run smoother off/and around the pulleys with less drag coefficient and centrifigul wear.BAKER Pulleys are Rockwell Hardened and Made of STEEL-as opposed to the cast and aluminum multi-piece pulleys the competition makes theres from.

Wide belts look cool but offer NO excessive extra power, torque, contact or response issues *UNLESS* you are running a Top Fuel Bike with 700 Horsepower and Cylinders that eclipse the width of My H-1 Hummer seats:D
You are welcome to write or call me for ANY advice, prices,TRUTH or technical questions regarding BAKER Belt Drives made Exclusively For your Big Dog.

I dont ride a K9 for racing. I like the look and the sound of the Karata. I can also state that the performance and smoothness of the clutch has improved while also looking great. I will take Karata any day! :2thumbs:
