I switched from Redline to Amsoil in all compartments last service interval, on the advice/sales pitch of a friend.

But...I'm considering switching back to Redline next time around.

The Redline tranny oil (ShockProof - aka the 'pink milkshake') just sounded better when I shift gears.
I agree..... The Redline Tranny oil - shockProof.. Transmission likes it way better.

how do you check the proper fluid level, screw in the dipstick or let it rest on the threads then pull it out for the check?

I don't use either of those, but the preferred method from James at Baker -- "only put in 20oz.--ever--that's all."

The stuff doesn't evaporate or disappear. If it's leaking then fix the leak, drain fully, and load 20 oz.

Yes, resting on the threads, but the scoot needs to be setting upright and level, not on the kickstand...:2thumbs:

I'm a BAKER Drivetrain Dealer- and the ONLY Oil reccomended by Bert or his Tech's is SPECTRO Full Synthetic 75/140 and thats what I use in all our BAKER Transmissions(we dont sell or install anything else other than BAKER Drivetrain on our builds or personal rides)

Yes you *can* purchase other brand oils & lubricants but it's not recommended or advised because Spectro really is the finest pure synthetic available for a high torque & performance BAKER Transmissions.
Even *other* brand transmissions will benefit from Spectro Full Synthetic 75/140

And a couple years ago Baker only recommended Redline 75-250. Its a sponsorship thing so as long as you have good quality oil!!!! :2thumbs:

USE Spectro 75/140 and be assured of the right Performance & Longevity in your box dude....I kid you not-and the endoersement issue is not relevant simply becaue of wear and maintenance issues we've discovered and *SEEN* at the Drag strip UNDER CONSTANT USE & EVALUATION - and Dyno Runs as of late 2010-hence the recommended and endorsed scenario of Spectro PURE 75/140 Synthetic in our gearboxes and other applications .

Not arguing with you but I have 90,000 miles on my BD Baker transmission and I've used all the oils out there and never had an issue. I'm running the Amsoil in mine now from the Baker sponsored Redline that they endorsed a couple years ago. :2thumbs:

For me just good ole Revtech Tranny oil. Key is to change it out routinely, normlay ever second oil change. The primary I do at evey oil change of around 2500 miles.

Spectro is good stuff as well as Amsoil and many other, Redline HD Shock Proof have been used by many also and as Raywood pointed out Baker used to recommend that, but has switched to Spectro (so I take such recommendation with grain of salt). Any oil that meets the specs should be good, none will be good if not maintained with proper levels/quanities or changes frequency. If you are running under extream conditions such as drag racing, high torque, extream temps, may want to consider some of the more expensive and specialized oil

Using only 20 oz in tranny, oil is not that expensive and stretching out such too long seems a good way to possibly have problems verse spending a few dollars routinely and doing proper maintenance.

***23*** ounces of Spectro in a dry & refilled transmission(the DSSC or otherwise on all BIG DOGS)
And 23 Ounces in ALL BAKER Transmissions like the DSSC ,Torquebox & Drivebrake which I'm running.
I've included pictures below of my Torquebox & Drivebrake BAKER Transmissions-and the Drivebrake which comes *Standard* with a pulley-well I custom ordered mine with the 23 Tooth Sprocket for a 530 Chain and BOTH of these BAKER Transmissions have the N1 Shift Drum Pattern:
Neutral(all the way Down)
1st thru 6th gear all UP-
NO Missed shifts or false neutrals:D

I switched to spectro syn. throughout on my 07 hd 3 or 4 oil changes ago, switching the primary and tranny oils to spectro recommended for each I noticed less gear noise neutral was simple to find.Which most of the 1st HD 6speed neutral was a pain unless motor off.I have also noticed that there is very little to no build up on the magnetic plugs when I drain fluids.gear and Tranny oils always look nearly new when I change them usually between 5 or 6 k miles.

I just like my Freedom
Has any one used the Mobil 75 - 140. full Synthetic. It seems a bit more $$$ @ 19. but if it make finding the "N" i will gladly pay..
Yep. It does the job nicely. Just refilled mine after the tear down. I did a fluid change and put about 5k on it before the rebuild with no issues at all.
