I have a 05 and I need info on what goes along with changing over to s&s rocker boxes, I already have the boxes im waiting until I have everything before I start. And by everything I mean everything.

Roller rockers, new springs and cam and gonna go ahead and install the 2 inch intake valves and 1 inch exhaust valves. If I understood the thread right some of the 05's didn't have tp rocker arms, just boxes ?? Should i look under the tp boxes first to see what I have ??

Ive read up on the tappets thread and im more confused than before I read it.
Can anyone clear this up, as far as the hydraulic tappets.

Thanks, u guyz are great.

I'll bet if you have TP boxes you have TP rockers.
Here is a good list from when I did mine two years ago. You can do better on prices if you lool around.

Rocker Box Set, DC Chrome $594.95
Shaft, Rocker Arm, (Set of 4) $39.95
Roller, Rocker Arm, (Set of 4) $474.95
Kit, Gasket, Top End for S&S $109.95
Kit, Gasket, 117" Rocker Box $59.99
Gasket, Exhaust $3.99
Gasket, Cylinder Base, 4 1/8" Bore $5.99
Manifold O-Ring 5.375" $6.00
Gasket, Cyl Head, 4 1/8" Bore $11.99

I will see if I can help.
If you have tp boxes you most likely have tp rockers too. If the rockers have two dimples on each one they are S&S. As far as tappets I am still running the comp ones that came in the bike with no problems or noise.
I replaced my tp boxes shafts and rockers with s&s everything. I had two worn out valve guides and one bent exhaust valve. Make sure you get twin cam boxes! If you didn't already know that. Ask me how I know ha ha!

I've been told HD makes better hydraulic tappets than S&S, they are supposed to pump up faster and since S&S recommends to change them out at around 20k miles they have better longevity. Must be the only thing Harley makes that's better than S&S

Been runnin the TP rockers on my 06 & 07 Pitbulls and I got NO problems with line-up, wear or adjustment problims.....
Had it looked at just the week before last & I'm running them good and no worrys.
I seen where other people do have issues with improper alignment - but mine are all good to go.I got a source for the S and S replacements if i decide to go that route-but I'm cool so far.

FWIW, I wouldn't use Harley lifters over S&S. :bang: In fact I replace a lot of twin cam lifters with S&S.
