CAN'T START 2009 K9 Carb 380 miles!!

Please help me, you wise men!!

OK, i imported a 2009 K9 Carb with only 380 miles. I've never managed to get it running!
Someone had installed a 2002 dead battery, and it wouldn't turn over. I've replaced the battery, and it now cranks great, but won't fire.
I switch on the ignition key, and i get a constant yellow led, together with a flashing green led. I press run, and i get a red constant led [think its ignition], together with a constant red on a box attached to the battery carrier. During cranking, both reds remain on, and there is a yellow & blue flashing alternately on the box.

So, my question is, are those light sequences as they should be? I am getting a spark at the rear plug during cranking.
Could somebody please remove the side cover, and make a note of the EHC light sequence, as you start the bike?

Any help appreciated. This is my 3rd K9, and i've not had any problems before!!

can you pull off the air cleaner and see if it's getting fuel ?
Look inside the throat of the carb and give the throttle a couple twists ....each twist should be squirting fuel....lite sequencing seems ok and you have spark ...why dont you verify the sequencing with your other K-9

Thank you for replying. The throat looks wet, but no squirting, and no real smell of fuel at exhaust. There is a plunger on the side of the carb, that seems to be stuck. When i move the throttle very slowly, it will start to depress, but locks up. If i twist the throttle quicker, it doesn't depress at all! Where would it squirt from, there are 2 brass jets before the throttle flap??

I sold my other K9's.

It squirts right in front of the throttle plate....it's a little brass tube....the plunger on the side needs to move freely as this is the pump mechanism ....It seems as the carb has sat some time and may have gummed up .... pull the carb and get a rebuild kit .... rebuild the carb it's easy to do...that should take care of the problem

Thank you sir!! So, do you think the ehc is functioning properly with that light sequence?

As long as you're getting spark the EHC is not the problem. As long as you have SPARK, FUEL, and COMPRESSION the engine must start. Since it's very unlikely you lost compression on both cylinders, it must be a fuel issue. First verify that fuel is actually getting in the bowl. Shut off the petcock, drain the bowl by removing the brass bolt underneath and leave it out, then open the petcock to make sure fuel is flowing down. Take the whole carb apart and blast it to death with carb cleaner, check for anything loose, missing, or blocked, then try again. I'd also rebuild the carb like Five Five said, it's not hard.

Just a shot in the dark, but loosen the gas cap make sure the petcock is on give the throttle four quick twist and try it. It's worth a try, my gas cap vents when I loosen it. Good luck

Thank you all guys!! Your help on this forum has been invaluable over the last 18 months. Its quite scarey when you're in Europe with problems on a USA only machine!
I'm re-building the Carb today, i guess its gotta be a fuel issue.......

second yellow closet to connecter on ehc means power.green right across from that means controller on.red on when when run switch pressed is good and should flash when bike is running.those light are ok.blue is compression reliefs .not suppose to stay on might be open circuit or short.

Fella's,,you're all amazing!!

Stripped the carb, and as suggested, the "pump" jet was blocked. It has a slit, not a hole. So i soaked it in thinners, and slid a piece of very thin paper across the slit until it went all the way down.
Rebuilt it, and it fired first press of the start button. Nearly blew my eardrums out, as it has nice open exhausts!!
So now, i've just got to convert all the lighting to UK spec, and get it inspected/registered.

No thanks to Nick at Funmart Cycle Center Illinois, as he obviously did not even check it started after i had wired the money to him!!! Cost me $100 for a battery, and at least 2 days labour checking the starter etc, pretty annoying really!!

Thanks again everybody, and an early Merry Christmas! :2thumbs:

Thats great paul  you are correct it is a slit and its designed to fan the spray into the throat.... Glad your up and running ....Just an FYI... if the carb was gummed up you may have residue in the tank as well, that may migrate to the carb...are you running an in line gas filter ?
