So rode on saturday and realized speedo was not registering speed or moving odomotoer. However, RPMs work. is it the speed indicator magnetic by rear wheel? I hate to trade out speedo for $250 if its an easy fix, thanks

If the battery is low it will not initialize when you start. Put the battery on a tender. Then try it again. make sure you let the speedo sweep before hitting the start switch.
Welcome moog....Erl told me this when I had this issue and I didn't listen at first. He was right, it was a low charge. make sure the battery is working well and fully charged.. Thanks Erl

I've learned something new today (and everyday) Thanks guys.Did you let the speedo cycle when you turned the key on? I noticed some times when it is cold out, you have to turn the key off and let the speedo do its full cycle twice.

When mine has done this I simply turn my bike off while riding the key that is and turn it back on and the speedometer sweeps and the speedometer works.may even have to ride for a few miles so the charging system will do it's job on the battery then stop and shut it down and re-crank it. but be prepared to replace the battery before long.
Remember your tach and speedo are two different units. Check out my How To on installing the Dakota Digital to see how it all comes apart and goes back together.wow this forum rocks, will try and get back at cha
