I'll vouche for the extremely dangerous riding conditions in Phoenix. Out here in NJ I'm a pretty aggressive rider, out in AZ I absolutely hate getting on the roads in the city and avoid it whenever I can. The way the streets in Scottsdale and Phx are laid out is plain dangerous, too many lanes and too much crossing traffic, people making blind lefts, etc. It's all compounded by the fact that nobody is actually from that area, so all the bad driving habits from all over the U.S. are blended together. It's really scary riding down there, you gotta keep your head on a swivel constantly. That's exactly how I got taken out 2 years ago, and my injuries were similar, glad he's ok.
Not to mention all the Blue Hairs who can't see 2 feet in front of them and make bad decisions all the time, along with all the Illegals driving around with no license or any real form of training to begin with. I find myself being more defensive even driving a car down there than I am on my bike up here in WI.

Glad he's ok, could have been alot worse. I don't know about all of you out there but I allways ride with the high beam on. Seems to make it alot easyer for people to see me. I know when my wife follows me and she dosen't have her high beam on in my mirrors it dosen't look like her light is on at all.

So thats what I do.
He actually does ride with his high beams at all times. That's one of the first things I told him when he got down there.

Glad he is ok,, we all know it could have been much worse. While that knee is healing up he can pick out a new scooter, hey just in time for Christmas!!!
Ya, tough call on that one. The Father in me says no more bike until school is over. But the rider in me says 'what would you do?' Well, I got right back on my rebuilt bike (and leg) after my accident with a car in an intersection two years ago.

I would rather deal with the stress of him being mad at me for not being able to ride now, rather than the stress of knowing he's out there on two wheels on the Phoenix streets with all the idiots every day.

This really is a tough decision. You fathers and mothers out there, what would you do at this point?

Glad he is going to be okay. He got lucky (all things considered). I lived in Phoenix for 27 years, terrible riding around town, Riding outside of town and into the desert and mountains is AWESOME. But the big city Sucks!

Glad your boy is okay. I am not sure what I would do if my boy was in an accident. I know his mom would ban him from riding, but I dont think that is realistic.

Hope he has a speedy recovery. It would be a shame to give up something he loves because of stupid people. But as a father i can understand how you feel.

My mom always said you have to get back on the horse that threw you!:flag:

just know that everybody is thinking it but I will say it. People who drive minivans should be forced to drive naked with see through doors. That way they would simply stay home! Glad to hear of the survival and would like to thank the driver for at least admiting fault. Most times in AZ the f'ers simply just seem to be blind.
