EHC

My EHC took a shit, on my '07 chopper dt a couple of weeks ago, and I was now told that that the right side switch for the turn signal and brake, the pc board, is shorted, to the tune of $191.00
Is this also an inherent problem when the EHC shorts?:bang::angry:

I wish I had more money.
I'm not sure so much that the ehc caused it but lean more towards them failing caused the ehc failure. Does that make any sence?

Makes perfect sense!!!

IF the EHC really is bad I would think it would have been caused by the control PCB "shorting out", not the other way around. I would disconnect the suspect control and power up the bike to see what the EHC does. There are protective circuits built in to the EHC for just that type of protection.

Oh yea!!! The EHC was fried!!
Another good source I found for Big Dog parts for some that may not have already known is Boss Hoss of California.
Brian and Gill are very knowledgeable on Big Dog parts, the number is; 310-784-1221. Give them a call, if they don't have it, they can put you in the right direction.:2thumbs::2thumbs:

I may have missed your post so I'll ask... what, specifically, is the EHC doing or not doing?

Dennis

PS I'd be interested in your shorted control PCBs. I'll pay the shipping!
The right side PCB control is fried.
The right side PCB switch is fried. I just ordered one from Boss Hoss in CA.
Cost to me shipped was $199.00

I'm looking for a couple sets of DEAD handle bar control switches to reverse engineer in hopes of coming up with a way to repair or replicate them. There's no way these switches are worth what they're selling for and until someone comes up with a replacement it'll only get worse...

So, can I have 'em? :hi:

Sure no problem. I'll ask him to save it for me but understand this is Vegas,

Are these handlebar control boards still avaiable through BDPP or elsewhere. I'm guessing they just had some still in stock. That's a very high price. Although I've been watching them sell on eBay for $95 and up used.

BDPP has them on back order. I found it at a dealer in CA.
It was the same price $190 from either. Bottom line they got us by the stones and they know it. The one I got is updated with the brake switch.
I wouldn't buy used.

Those boards probably cost around $50 or less fully assembled.

PCB
Domed keyswitch overlay
Connector

NRE (Non-recurring engineering) cost is the big thing if you have plans on designing a new version.

Design a new version with a better membrane keypad technology other than the old stainless steel domes. It would cost a bit more though.
