I haven't tried it but they aren't to far from me either. If you check them out any further post what you find. Thanks!

I sent them an email to find out where they are located.... and to maybe go down and check them out. Shipping wont be a issue since one can deliver the rims in person. (If they let you). If your interested I'll shoot you a PM when I find anything out.

When I'm in the area I will stop in. Not sure if the chrome price is a good one or not though.

Hey guys, I will stop by their shop tomorrow. They are 15 minutes from where I work in Kent. I had some plating done by a company in Grafton, don't have their name handy, but they did a fabulous job with some small parts I made. I have also wanted my wheels chromed and this looks like a good deal. :flag:

Hey that sounds like a plan. See if they have a price sheet or something on their cost and what they offer. Since its close to home saving on shipping is a big plus.

Cool! Let us know. From thier responce to "awg', it almost sounds like they would just sub this out to a plater. Be good to know if they do it at thier shop.

They send it out. I can get your stuff chromed if your interested. I'm 20 minutes east of Akron. The chromer in Grafton is Custom Chrome Plating. They don't do wheels. I got hooked up with a chromer in Cali last year. Its hard to find a plater that will do the wide wheels.

I think my chromer warranties for 2 years. Meclec in Cali does Big Dogs chrome. I've used them on 2 customer bikes a year and a half and 2 years ago. The chrome is falling off!

Sounds like it could be trouble having these wide rear rims chromed? I was hoping they did there own chroming. That way you would be dealing with them and not a third party should something go bad on the rims. I don't know....

Hey guys, stopped there yesterday and spoke with Matt and Mike. The send there plating to the west coast, and have been doing business with the same plating company for 8 years. Chrome plating looked great, and this is their slow time so they are having sales. I personally would not hesitate to get my wheels done with them. I have had some small parts chromed at Custom Chrome Plating in Grafton, Oh. and they also do a fabulous job.

Thanks for checking in... I had a feeling they sub-ed out the Chrome. Bummer, I was hoping for local on the wheels, just incase of problems. Sure is alot of money for chroming. I know there is labor in polishing and prepping but wow. Wish I could start my own plating shop!

plating shops earn their money....thats hard dirty work...
I didn't say there wasn't labor involved... But they are reaping big profit, for that labor! I have been in the metal Heat Treating business for 30 years (Talk about Hard, Hot, Dirty work, and ton's of labor), charging only a small fraction of platers cost, and yes we have EPA costs too. Our industry is competative and charging what we are worth would put us out of business.

Guess it comes down to 'pretty, shiny chrome' and how badly we want it LOL
