Don't use the pop ups. I had them on my 03 and they did not seal good always leaking. PITA to make them pop up sometimes. If you want a different look. Take the paintsaver off and get a set of Kury gas cap that spin on and there is a key to tighten them.

I know I hate the "paintsaver" myself!I had a pop-up on my HD Heritage and loved it.It's a nice clean look;just don't tighten it too tight.Never had any leaks.I've heard on here to use heat on the paintsaver to remove the sob.A heat gun or hi-temp hair dryer should work.

I'm interested in this as well. Does anyone have a part # for the Kury gas cap? Would be installing it on an 05 Ridgeback.

Is there anything additional to be done after removing the paint saver or will the new caps simply screw in? I would love to replace mine.

I recently installed the Kury ones on my bike. They don't look bad. Lots of people like the look. I would suggest them.

Just installed some Kuryakyn flush mount (8309/8310) gas caps on my 03 Pitbull.
The paint savers were NOT jb-welded on. They unscrewed out very easily.
And after reading a lot of other guy's posts on here, it sounds like I was pretty fortunate.

Here's a few pictures I took while installing.
I took a "profile" pic so you can see the height difference between the Kuryakyn flush mount one & the OEM gas cap.

Is that an optical illusion or is that OEM cap sit that high off the tank? My cap is tight to the tank.

LoL, my bad... I actually unscrewed the paint saver out just a bit and forgot to screw it all the way back down before taking the picture. I remember thinking about screwing it back down, but was scared I may have a hard time getting it back out. Good catch!
But you can still tell there is an obvious difference in height overall.
