I can't figure out how to release the wire from this connector. I need to re-wire my tail lights and I would like to reuse the connector.

I know this is a simple CPU fan connector, there has to be a way to get the wires out. I went to Fry's a HUGE electronic store they had nothing to help me out! I couldn't even buy just the connection every connector already had the wires.

I rather not have spliced and solder connections everywhere. I just want to rerun some fresh wire

You need a very small pin or dental pick and press the tab down on the silver connection part within the white connector and the wire will come out. Look at the the silver part very closely while moving the wire in and out. You will then see where the tab is, push it down with the pin and pull the wire out. To reinsert the wire just pull the tab up and push it into the connector. Very simple operation. Careful the silver part of the connector can break easily.....
Look at my image this is where you need to push the tab in while pulling on the wire....

yes they do break,VERY EASILY.........
Yep Broke one! I went to RatShack they don't have the silver connections that crimp on the end of the wires. Does anyone know where to get those?

Also, does anyone know how do you remove this plug? I kind of screwed up and without thinking cut the wires in the tail light housing instead of trying to figure out how to get the connectors off :bang: I want to just rerun the entire tail light harness if possible so I'm not cutting and splicing.

On the turn signals I use an xacto knife to compress the release.

For connectors that you can't locate at radio shack, I'd recommend either Mouser Electronics, Digikey or Newark Electronics.

the bigger plug is in the battery box, about 3 inches from the ecm,,it makes it easy to take your rear fender off with the lights attached,,both left and right rear lights run to this and than the ecm 6 wires in 6 out
