When does it slip?
All gears or when you get up into 3rd and so on.....
Clutch adjustment is fairly straight forward and double check that the clutch hub nut has not backed off. A common problem here on that issue.

it does fine until you get above 3 grand then it slips had this issue before and it was the hub nut. this time had the clutch adjusted and it still slips especialy when running around 70 and you roll on the gas

I have an 07 CHOPPER and its slipped for quite some time......specially when I get on it,my personal opinion is that the clutch assembly probally wasnt the best choice for this whole 117 S&S setup..........

How many miles are on the clutch? I really believe you can dial it in with a proper adjustment and not have a issue. My bike is built and I still run the stock clutch in it and it holds fine. I think the bandit is a better choice by far but your question is slippage at the moment. Do you do your own work? If so I think many here van help you make the adjustments you need unless you have internal transmission issues going on.
Throw some more info at us and lets us give you our 2 cents...

For the most part I do my own work. I've adjusted this thing a couple of times then took it to xtream in greenville for them to adjust they did and nothing changed this happened one time before and the took the primary off and fixed it that way it had about 4000 on it then now it has 8100 on the clock

have you cleaned and lubed the heim joints on the linkage? might help with the neutral situation. make sure the heims are in alignment with each other so as not to bind.

Took it to xtream today he said probably going to need a pressure plate and then readjust it again

2011 Pitbull Clutch Slipping

I have almost 1000 miles on my 11 Pitbull and the clutch started slipping today between 2nd and 3rd gear shifts. I'm not abusive and haven't done any wide open acceleration or gone above 3200 rpm as per the break-in recommendations from the BDM manual. I guess it's time to get smart on working on this "no warranty" ride. :)

Josh, take Ratman's advice and call Kent @ Energy One. He'll give you the straight scoop.

Mine was doing the exact same thing as yours is. Once it starts slipping in high gear, there's no adjusting it out. Kendall Johnson repaired mine which involved taking the plates out of it and measuring them to make sure they're within an acceptable thickness. Mine were marginal, so Baker sent a new pack and heavier springs. Problem solved. Half the cost of a new clutch. This was exactly what Kent had told me.
Your other choice is to replace the whole deal with a Bandit.
Just my .02. Good luck with it and let us know how it turns out for ya.

"Hard to find neutral" is definitely a clutch adjustment issue. This means the clutch is dragging and that clutch is not opening up far enough. Your adjuster screw is "backed" out too far off from the throw out bearing.

Clutch slippage

I have an '08 Mastiff and mine is slipping. I have replaced the plates and adjusted the linkage. Turned it in until I feel it touch and backed it out 1 1/2 turns. Then adjusted the cable leaving a little play in the lever. What I do notice is under a load (accelerating) the play in the lever goes away. This is an intermitant problem. When there is play in the lever under all conditions, there will be no slippage. But when I can feel the play in the lever tighten up under a load I know it's going to slip above 3rd gear. I'm pulling my hair out. :bang: I'm wondering if the nut is loose. So I feel your pain along with everyone else. Time for a new Bandit clutch.

There is a problem if you are loosing free play in the clutch lever. This means your mainshaft in your transmission is moving laterally. This can happen from the clutch nut being backed off or the main bearing going in the case. The helical cut gears are forcing the mainshaft to move towards the right off the bike. Tightening up any free play that was available.

If you are backing off of the clutch push rod 1 and 1/2 turns that's to much free play. You only need to back off 1/4 turn.
