Air Intake, Up or Sideways?

What would look better with my dual D&M Air Intakes?

I tried them sideways when I got the D&M set and for the life of me I don't know remember what they looked like up and I figured I put them sideways for a reason. If it wasn't such a pain I would just turn them up and try both ways for a while. Is there any benefit either way I have them also?

I have never been to a Chopper Show, I know my bike is nice but I wont kid myself, I am sure there are some amazing Bikes out there with Amazing paint jobs which one day after I figure what I want, I will change but I until then I show it around here at local car shows with maybe some Harley's. I have won each time but that isn't a real show, I don't want to go to a real Chopper Show and be a laughing stock. I have a sponsor if I want it from House of Color and Steve VanDemon is going to paint my truck and Chopper. I get all the house of color stuff at no cost but Steve on the other hand needs his money and we are talking over 15k for both just for painting. I plan on making both my Truck and Chopper have something to do with Space and maybe Star Trek or Star Wars. I have been trying to figure it out for the last year.

What should I do?

Thanks,

I have looked at pictures of past Motorcycle shows and everyone has a single and it goes up, thats why I asked here because it looks like it is 50/50. I don't need to copy, I just want to do it right. I have had those for over a year and they stand out, either people know what they are and love them and some chick ask me what they do because they stand out so much.

It is a known fact when we are on the Dyno and tuning the D&M air cleaners the perform is better and cause fewer problems with skips and hesitations facing up. Might not look as cool but performs better.

My advice get that thing off your bike if you want HP!!!!!!! S&S built it, use an S&S air cleaner! If you’re going for looks. Well ok leave it forward.

PS. Check out my Videos on Youtube about air cleaner comparison. S&S VS Spike. Bikers Dream Channel.

I have never been to a Motorcycle show, is it even worth it for me to take mine? Most of you guys know what a show bike is, I only know what the ones I see around here are like. My buddies I ride with don't show and yet there is the same as mine, I just figure it is just each to their own. I have just always wanted my own vehicle in a mag after I spent years and 10's of thousands of my ex girlfriends car to win all the shows and get in a mag for all my buddy's to laugh and say its her car. It was her car, I got it for her and then spent my money for it to be that nice. I will never grow up, if anyone says I will or I am grown up, you know they are a liar!

I had no clue, when I added those on, it made a night and day difference in power... Could it be different because it is dual? I am on these forums because I don't know much yet, I learn as I go but I trust that you guys know what I need to. The S&S Air Cleaner I had was the tear drop one, seems I have a little better sound with the new one and now with my new Exhaust it sounds even better. Thanks, I will look into that.

Not to knock Steve or Bikers Dream, yours look better than the S&S dual runner. I have the S&S dual runner on my bike and it performs great. The only complaint is they didn't chrome the back side and they use two cheap clamps for the filters.

So from the pictures, would it be worth a shot at me showing it at a Motorcycle show before I get it painted?

here's my :zz2cents:...

First, I like the way your air intake looks with the V&H 2:1 Big Radius pipe!

Second, your bike should fare very well at local area bike shows. But, you're going to see some really radical customs with a ton of cash dumped into them at a major/regional shows...hard to compete with that! :zzdisappointed:

Third, PM Air-Brush Ed on this site for ideas on your paint. He does awesome work and has done some radical paint jobs for guys/gals on here. :2thumbs:

Good luck!

I like the twin filter that you have forward. I have a single spike and I ride with it both ways, sometimes forward, sometimes up. I have had people get onto me about the up position, saying: "It looks dangerous" Well to them I say naaaaaw teenagers texting and old people turning are dangerous.
