Grips

Recently , the grips on my dog are leaving a sticky black residue on my hands after riding for a few minutes. Is there anything i can do to fix this? Or do I need new grips? I have the original black rubber/chrome grips on now.

I just took care of mine yesterday. You can sorta help em last a little longer by using ArmorAll. Spray the cloth you will wipe with and start rubbing. I know, I thought it might make em slippery, but the old rubber seems to absorb the ArmorAll and dry's up nicely. The ArmorAll takes off the sticky stuff as well.

my concern would be getting contaminant inside the grip and fouling the electrics or binding the twist of the throttle. i guess as long as you don't spray directly onto the grip and, instead, apply with a rag you might be alright.

there has got to be something better than that product.....
What happens if for some reason it holds the slippery substance and somehow it releases and off come your hands at the wrong time???
I wish I had a better answer for you,but I dont..have you tryed windex?????

try cleaning them with S100, I spray it on to a micro fiber towel and clean all my controls,
they look great and no slipping

Wipe them with a soft cloth and degreaser like 409. Dry at once with dry cloth.

Yeah, the oil and sweat in your hands will degrade the rubber parts of the grips eventually, no matter how much AmourAll you use.

Gloves are a good safety device as well as saving the grips.

I commute on my 07 K-9 every day rain or shine or Texas heat. The grips are in great condition and I always wear gloves...and clean undies...you never know.

Well, I gave the armor all a try and it worked very well. No more black residue on my hands anymore. Thanks for the input!
