Thanks boys... the parts take on so much more when they get installed.

The chrome on the sissy bar really made it POP! I should have slid it in the rear fender struts for a pic... but didn't... maybe Wed.

Today I got a few things done. But had to put out alot of fires with some things revolving the project. I won't get into that and keep things on a positive note.

I therefor didn't get alot of ackomplished. Took the tranny inside the house cause I forgot I need to polish that. DUH!

Assembled the plate

Then realized I also need to get some chrome replacement bolts for this..there goes another $15 probably

Installed the tach ring

Chased the holes in the rear fender struts prior to installation

Got the fender and the newly chromed strut ready

New bolts and lock washers with blue loctite

BAM.... even re-installed the rear brake light housings

Did the other side the same

Lovin the new chrome

Then finished out the night working on those fires and looking to order some MORE new parts too! Its basically a disease!

Well Day 4 was short. Only got about an hour and a half in the garage working on said "putting out fires", but that doesn't discount what was done.

Got the new chrome bolts installed on the plate and got rid of the alum ones.

Left new chrome/right old (sorry it don't show better in the pick)

Then come the big biz. Enlisted the help of my bro in law. Muscle the motor back to where it belongs...

Got my new and improved head bolt spikes and Dyna Beeds

The older standard caps

The new hotness

The dyna beeds. Some for the Phoenix, some for the Sporty, and back up for both.

Startin to look like somin

hopefully Thursday after I wake up from midnights and being off work till Tuesday. I can start to get some more progressive days.

Well I just poped in for a min... had to get online for some info and pay for some more parts... DUH!!!

It is a labor of love. I love doing the time.

Phoenix being a bird from mythology. Phoenix (mythology - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

Cliff notes is that I laid the bike down in the fall and from that the bike has burned down and is being reborn. Being reborn is putting it lightly I hope, bieng that it is coming back badder than ever.

Understand?

Its also been a tat I have been wanting to get for a while. Across my sholder blades with its wings spread. I guess the bike is getting it before I am.

I'm going back to the garage... getting a bunch of small stuff done...
Rick... I quoted the reasoning.

I did some more work on it today. Finished polishing the spots on the motor that I couldn't get to with it in the stand, polished the tranny. Got them both bolted up then and the inner primary on. I have to go to bed now due to a stupid safety meeting in the early am and all day.

Plus I wasted some more time trying this zoops :bang:

Also dealing with the front fork brace... its giving me some fitment issues that I have been working on. Will post more about that Friday if I can. Been super stupid busy with crap, bike, work, and whatever else. :bang: :bang:

Chris - you've really come a long way - considering you started all this in November - not to mention you're doing it in your "spare time"... Plus, there's the time required to document, take pix, post, etc. Unreal brother.

No doubt many will benefit because it's a "how to" post to do anything on your bike.

Thanks Frank. Dealing with estimates and insurance wasted a solid 6 weeks. But in that time it was research on parts. Then it was order order order order. Mock up, custom, custom , custom, mock up, check fitment, tear down, fix, mock up, custom, tear down, ect... you get the idea.

But it really is paying off that I took the extra time to take pics and label like crazy. Luckily its in my nature to be organized!

The largest problem is limited time. It truely is amazing what type of progress can be made with 4 hands and more than a couple hours. As hopefully we'll see Sat.

Thanks Newbie... I'll take your word for it as I have only dreamed to go to the main kennel.

While thanks... I have tried to keep the documentation high on this project. I don't know anybody around that has done it. I know there are guys that build bikes every day. But I know I haven't and to me, that's all that matters. Well that and hopefully it will run and track straight!

Thanks and you're funny Chuck. That damn motor has some SERIOUS weight. They can muscle it in all they want by themselves... I didn't want to chance my new powder!!

Ok... so as I was trying to say Day 5 (yesterday) I only got a few things done.

Finished polishing the motor, being that, there were places I couldn't get to when it was in my motor stand.

Also, polished the tranny a bit before continuing!!! Oh... and for those that don't know... when you accidently leak red shockproof tranny oil on your living room carpet... brake clean and a roll of paper towel will get it out!!!

Then I realized in order to make the installing of the tranny easier... I should just drop the rear shocks again... no biggie. I got that down pat now! So did that and dropped it in.

Then I wanted to get something started on the primary. Should be noted that at this point the motor and tranny are loose.

Loosely bolted that to the motor and tranny.

Then grab the clutch/rear pulley assembly

Remove the front plate and clutch springs

Then you need to pull out the clutch plates and fibers

YOu do this cause you have to slide the basket on the rear tranny pulley to aid in the line up, before you bolt the motor bolts.

Remove the rear pulley again and tighten and torque it all to specs

I even slide the front fender on, to get a good look at it and to help get measurements for dealing with the front fork brace... But at least it looks good
