I'm not that mechanically inclined and more than likely don't have all the tools, though I would love to be able to do something like that. My last major repair was replacing the front wheel bearings on a Chevy SUV. If I lived close enough to Gas Man I would take it there on April 2nd.

I have the 4' without the OBS, And its great, I have about 2000 miles since I installed it. Been to Daytona and have hit the juice ( NOS 40 shot )a few times without any problems at all. I really like the look. Now a few things you should know if you don't by now. 1 You WILL get your pants torn at some time, I did in Daytona looking at babes:rolleyes:, It grabed my leathers and got my attention real quick. 2 You Will have groves on the back of your left boot:lol:. 3 for the first few rides you Will think an ambulance is following you:loony:. This by far is the best upgrade I've done.:whoop::whoop::whoop:

Carpetman,

I was looking forward to that but didn't quite hear it. I will take it out on the next warm day when I don't have to wear a balaclava to keep my face from freezing off. It was 35 this morning when I took it to the shop and not much warmer on the way home. I did get a little nervous watching my pants flap dangerously close to where the belt goes over the front pulley. Your photos were my inspiration for going without the OBS. Thank you for posting your pics!!

Riding out of DC I think my pants got caught in the front pulley. I can't say for sure, but it felt like a bird slammed into my shin. No tear in the denim, so who knows. I ended up in the reserve lot for Rolling Thunder and walked around. I think mine was the only Dog in the crowd. My buddy's Harley was parked next to it. As we were coming back to our bikes we noticed a lot of lookers. I thought one guy was going to shout, "can whoever owns this Harley pull it out of the way so I can get a better look at this Big Dog?" In the end it doesn't matter who rides what, as long as everyone is riding! There were a lot of good looking bikes.

I definitely notice the whining more now that I have given up on trying to listen to music while riding. The earbuds always seem to come out, and even if they don't I have to crank the music so loud to hear it that it becomes annoying. The smooth hum of the engine has become soothing, and at slower speeds when the exhaust isn't cranking I definitely hear the Karata. Now that I am used to the belt spinning a few inches from my leg I absolutely LOVE it. It is certainly something I don't see on a lot of other bikes and takes the bike to "the next level." Thanks Jim!!
