My 07 Mastiff has restrictor plates, why are they there, were they part of the EPA mandates on Big Dogs?

Second question, I have recently decked the heads and changed valves and springs, I'm getting ready to install a 600 cam and V&H 2-1 pipes, should I remove the restrictor plates or leave them in?

Take them out let her breathe. Your gonna love all that new found power. Next new ignition to bring it out if you still have the stock one. Peace

Somethin sounds odd. Resrictor plates were only used on 05 bikes with "E" carbs. Bikes that came with the G carb did not have restictor plates. Are you the original owner? Never the less you do not want the restictor plates and you may need a different manifold after removal. V

on the header of the thread, you are calling it an "exhaust" restrictor plate. do you mean intake located between the intake manifold and the jugs or something else?

Intake restrictor plates were ONLY on 05's. Have no idea what you are referring to with exhaust restrictor plates other then the plugs in the stock pipes that can be punched out. I have many posts and pictures here on what the intakes plates look like but your year bike did not have them.

Hope you have a top notch mechanic and lots of money. You have started on a long journey.

I didn't want to open my motor, I was forced to by a leak at the base of the rear cyclinder, I thought once you take everything off, I might as well replace the gasket on the front also. I try to read every thread and post on here ( there are many smart people here on this forum ) but it seems no one can ever agree on the springs, so I errored on the safe side and changed them.

And no, I don't have a lot of money, but I do love my bike.

BigDogBro1, thanks again for the tip on the heat rap, it is already done.
