starter stuck on

I noticed that recently it has acted like the compression releases were not working. Or I thought the basttery was about to go out since it was sluggish to turn over.

Last night, it started, but the starter remained on. Turning the key off made no difference. I was able to kill the engine with the normal off button (but it was still being turned by the starter). By the time I was able to get the battery cable off, the battery had run down and was very hot to the touch.

I have had wire plus in for nearly a month and no issues.

A friend suggested that a low battery can cause this to happen (as well as a stuck starter relay).

Ok guys, any ideas on what happened?

I took the solenoid out and have determined that it was the problem. See pictures

However, it also le me see another problem. The big wire that goes from the solenoid to the starter has defective insulation on it. I can see the copper wire in it. Now while it's not under stress and basically stays in position, it may be okay, but I am nevertheless going to at least slit some tubing and cover it.

Looks exactly like what happened to me not too long ago.. I'm going to add it to my yearly check just to make sure it is lubed and clean..

Here is what I did and it works normally again.

My highly experienced friiends were trying to get me to pull the starter and check various things. (All of which I would have done IF what I did didn't work).

I used 600 wet or dry on the body and then used white rouge on the buffer wheel. Needless to say it was very slick. See picture

Was your battery ok after you charged it back up? I couldn't get my battery back to normal and ended up buying a new one.

Looks like a real tight fit in there,but,(and you probably know it),I had the same problem with that wire and I used that electrical(rubbery)stretch tape from Home de-pot,it was like $5 or 6 bucks,shit works great.

I used liquid tape on mine....works great :up:

The battery I had in it when this happened is only reading 11.5 (looks like a dead cell).
I just had bought a new Braille and it seems fine. Got my fingers crossed
