The PIAA bulb is solid. I was the one against the Adjure Blue Dot Tri-bar. A search on the site for "Adjure" and "crap" will find the thread...

These are the bulbs (the one on the right is the stock BDM bulb that I swapped out):

...and this is what can happen to the Adjure blue-dot Tri-bar:

Some kind of residue deposits on the inside:

Yeah, but we proved your problems with the adjure had nothing to do with the PIAA... being others have had the same problem with the stock bulbs.

Feel free to come to your own conclusions - I was just sharing a pic that shows the original BDM bulb next to the PIAA, not saying it was the cause of the Adjure failure.

I just deducted that from others that had adjure problems with stock bulbs. Plus Dave has been running the PIAA all year in his stock housing and it hasn't funked up. But hell I have been running it for over a year with no problems and I got the adjure.

Chris -- you're beating a dead horse. Problem ain't yours its Adjure's. Nuff said

I think what Chris is trying to say is that if JR07 wants to swap out his stock bulb for the PIAA like I did....he won't have any problems....that actually would be increasing his light output.
now there has been a few people that have had problems with their Adjure headlamp and people that haven't.....but I think that has nothing to do with the PIAA bulb itself....just my :zz2cents:
I only did the bulb swap....I still have the stock headlamp....for now...

Yeah that is it Dave... I'm just saying... lets not cloud the issue of the PIAA being a brighter bulb, with all this adjure talk. The adjure is a seperate issue...

The PIAA bulb will give him what he wants and that is more light on the road.

I have the stock light housing and the stock bulb & I have the same problem with the cloudy film on the inside of the light housing. At reassemble I am swapping out the stock bulb with the PIAA using the same stock light housing at this point. If it clouds again I always have Gas' how to, to remove and clean the light housing.

Now that's a really interesting comment, Rick - I don't know of anyone else who has mentioned film buildup with the stock setup.

It's not as bad as some of the pics posted by others with film build up, but it does have some film build up in the light housing. I removed the bulb to replace with the PIAA and saw the film on the inside of the light. i have not attempted to remove the film yet. I will see if I can get a decent pic of it to post.

Has anyone considered using a HID headlight instead of a halogen (H4) bulb? We've installed several of these HID kits in HD's and BDM's. 3x brighter, last 3x longer than a standard Halogen bulb, and draws only about 12 watts of power. Super small digital balasts that fit into the headlight bucket as well. I'll try to get some pics up of a bike here in the shop with a HID installed. We sell these for $249 each. Install takes 15 minutes, plug and play design.

Wow been without the internet for a few days and I was surprised to see this was still a topic on the board. After reading all the replies I think I will still go ahead with replacing the bulb but will check the current condition of the inside of the light before replacing. Were I live there are so many deer and I have to pass through the park system almost everytime I go any where. Currenty I have flashlights at home that put out more light then the head light on my dog. If you see me driving home at night though the park I'm the guy going 15 mph because I can't see much of the raod in front of me. Oh and if I turn on the high beam all I can see is what's in the trees. Yes they work great on the highway when I want to see the over head signs.
