Planning on doing this in a couple years time. What would be the best time of year to do it regarding weather? Not too worried about heat but some of the other extreme stuff you can get over there (storms, tornadoes etc) I would like to avoid. Plan on going East to West.

Thanks all

Being from Chicago, I'd say shoot for late May through early/mid June to start. You'll be heading WSW from there and will run into hotter temps in the south. I'd venture and say late May would be optimal.

May. Start in DC, pick up some of the crew, then ORD, then west and stop in Austin to get BubbleHead, then the rest. Now the route is planned for ya and we'd be done by the middle of June.

I would meet Lee in Chicago... I really need to go visit my family up there, and then hit the road after taking him to my favorite pizza joint.

When you'll come across Albuquerque let me know and I'll buy you a cold one and show you some good New Mexican restaurant.
