has anyone else had their headlight housing crack on a 07 K9?
The dealership told me it was a common thing so I changed mine out.

The actual housing cracked or the mount on the lower triple tree cracked. Never heard of the housing cracking.

MIne broke recently due to one of the bolts breaking thereby causing the bracket to fail. I believe there was a SB or something out about it last year.
In this picture you can see the broken bracket. New one from the factory wasn't chromed like the original one that broke.

They said it was due to the fact the light is too long and it is putting pressure on it. They were pretty good about it,, they let me pick out any light they had in stock and replaced it for free. I figured I was not going to keep replacing the same one.

No offense but that is a bunch of BS. Millions of bikes have this same headlight style and if there was a serious problem they wouldn't be used.
Also, lots of bikes even use the larger 7" headlamp!!!
Again, mine broke due to a weak bolt. I replaced them with some good SS bolts and don't expect it to fail again.
Seems your's failed early and I would like to know if one of the bolts was broken!

Seems your dealer is treating you right though and that is important and gives you piece of mind for any future problem you hopefully won't have. :D

Hope you get lots of miles out of that scoot.

It wasn't the bolt I remember seeing the bracket cracked since my headlight started vibrating really bad. This is my first bike so I really did not know if they were BS me or not. All I know is I like the new headlight better.

From Headwinds who used to make the headlights for your bikes and I asked them for the tool to remove the ring and it came with the instructions as well as a few extra little set screws the go in the bottom.

Now BDM used or manufactured there own headlight housings.

Later,
Ray

I have over 7,000 miles on my 2007 k9 and that is the only problem I have had. It is the cyclops headlight and it lights up real good especially the shoulders of the road... good for seeing deer with
