No more Big Dogs

Had a Ironhorse, was at the dealer getting work done when the dealer got the call Ironhorse was no longer (no parts).. sold the IH and bought a Big Dog, was at the dealer getting work done when the dealer got the call no more Big Dog. Sold the BD (no parts) Bought a new HD. Both the Ironhorse and Big Dog were 2004's and great bikes, The new HD is boring and no match for these two choppers. Good luck to all you guys that don't want to ride a boring bike
Have an '02 Softail that was born a Nitetrain, and a fine bike it is. I've easily spent as much "making it mine" as my K9 cost. Some Harley stuff, but LOTS of aftermarket too.

WRT the 'Dog, there are a lot of non-proprietary parts, and I intend to ride the beast 'til the day I die. You "may" have jumped the gun - parts are out there...

2 wheels. Enjoy the ride!

Was at HD Dealer today they said they are chopping their line so far heard Crossbones, Rocker C and Tri-Glide on the chopping block.
That and H-D is planning to shut more dealers down this year. The dealers that are not putting out the numbers that H-D would like to see will be shut down first.
As far as BDM goes, there is nothing on these bikes that can not be replaced. We still have S&S and Baker up and running along with hundreds of parts stores, in dealer or online. This guy should have waited a while before traiding in on an H-D. I'm sure the dealer stoll the Bigdog.

Not trying to bash any brand, but H-D needs just as much service and repair as the BDM's. Have worked on thousands of both and they all have there little quirks.

I got a little something for ya.....from an ex-Dog owner. I also was at the HD Dealership yesterday picking-up some gaskets for the headers I need to install on my new ride. I was determined to keep it stock, but it didn't take long to find out you just can't. The new Harleys have the EPA breathing down their neck so hard it's ridiculous.

It was also interesting that our local dealer sales were 70 units behind last years numbers at this time and that no one is buying the high dollar Ultra's. I stopped in to see my old friends at the BD dealer and he said things were actually picking up since the closure. Credit Unions were offering financing again and he was seeing an upswing over his used Harley business.

I don't like that I'm having to spend so much to get a little performance. At the end of the day it's all good. Never say Never. I couldn't see myself on anything other than the Chopper but the time has come. It is a different beast and works for this chapter in my life.

i know harleys have thier issues, just repaired several issues on my own.i was just saying a harley would be easier to get service if you were not doing it yourself.i really think that harley riders would like big dog and vice versa.for some reason a lot of harley riders think they are trouble and imposible to get parts for.when in reality they are not that different:cheers:

I stated he is stupid because he removed his first post and changed it to the one liner. The guy has only put one post up and seems to be just trying to start an argument on this site. But maybe you are right, He is scared...scared of all the members of this site that love the bigdogs :D

"Good Luck with Parts" means what? I don't need luck. We have this forum, google, ebay, etc. I have all the tools I need and the resources to get anything made. I agree with Brooks. I am not sure that anything will even break on my bike. If I can build a 1968 BSA chopper from the ground up, then a modern bike is a cake walk.:whoop:

i couldn't agree more with you guys.
i have 2 Dog's.... no way in hell i'm getting rid of them just cause they closed the doors.
i also ride a heritage. all bikes have their own purpose. just love "raaaakin" the pipes on the dogs when downtown...lmao. skares the shit outa people too!!!
I LOVE MY DOG'S

I havent even bought my big dog yet still trying to decide between ridgeback or k9 but i dont have a problem one bit about buying one and there's nothing out there like a big dog . If people are worried about getting it worked on and buying parts they probaly dont need a chopper anyways.

Maybe I am the stupid one because I am not worried at all about parts. There are too many BDM out there for someone not to step up and pick up all that business. Plus, its not like the company that made the engine is out of business.
