trans oil and shifting

Recently changed out the tranny fluid at 5k miles. Drained less than 20 oz. (best guess at 12 oz.) Prior the the change it was easy to find neutral and smooth shifting. Not sure what oil was in there before. All I know is that HD did the service. Put in 20 oz of Royal Purple 140 wt. (only heavy I could find out here) and now shifting seems harder when it gets in gear and neutral seems all but impossible to find. Anyone experienced that before??

The H-D dealer probably adjusted your clutch wrong. Not the fluid in your transmission. Your Transmission should have 20-24 oz. NOT 12. You need to re adjust your clutch, full adjustment, not just the cable.

I have 2006 K9 and it takes 20 OZ and if I put any more it leaks a little until it finds it level, but I have open primary. most of the 6 speed bakers take 20 OZ. If you do not have a shop manual you should really get one especially with bigdog closed. can help any shop with info to, even if you are not going to work on it. Owns manual also has basic info like fluid amounts. I think most of use have a little problem finding neutral, I alway try to put in neutral just before I stop, if I am already stop I can rev. throttle some and get into neutral. all of this is assuming clutch is adjusted OK.
