I know here's another question about which one is better ridgeback or k9. I'm looking to buy another bike here soon and dont know anybody localy that has either one that i can ride to help me decide. The furthest i usually ride on a weekend is about 250 miles on arkansas roads . I just need a little input on which way to go. I feel like k9 going to be the way to go but i would some riders input.

I live in Smackover and these oil field roads are definitly terriable in some places Im probaly going to stick with the k9 i like the way both look and im getting older and cant take a beating like i used to. k9 seems to be the favorite. Thanks for the input.

I ride a 2008 Ridgeback on Louisiana Roads and it rides just fine. I ride between 350 and 500 miles on a long ride and to and from work every day. I think it depends on your age (I'm 50) and your physical condition and your riding history. My 1999 Dodge 4WD 3/4 ton truck is my worse ride of all my vehicles unless I put 3 to 5000 lbs in the bed!:DMy Daytona 675 is the softest ride! I purchased my 2008 Ridgeback and had never ridden a Hardtail. I was pleasantly surprised with the ride. I rode several K-9's and didn't really pay attention to the fact it was a softtail and don't believe they offer that much suspension (Just my opinion). I would get the bike you really want and just go ride it. I also believe that you need more time to evaluate a ride than just a short test ride. The dealer (out of business) I test rode K-9s at had horrible rides. The speedo's were bouncing all over, the mirrors falling off and vibration was tremendous. I asked them what was wrong with their bikes and they kept letting me ride another. The rides were worse than my 1968 BSA Chopper which is over 40 years old. My Ridgeback is tight and pretty smooth other than medium vibration in the mirrors but I have the same vibration on my 2002 Bonneville America in the mirrors.

Well i m glad to here that you've rode both and that you ride some long rides on a ridged i've definitly heard mixed reviews .My buddy builds custom choppers and he's trying to steer me towards the ridgeback. I do like the way a hardtail looks .Does it it seem to handle better than the k9 in curves or is there no difference.

This is just my opinion.......but I think the ridgeback looks better but the K9 should ride smoother. If your going to be riding 2 up I would think the K9 would be the better choice also.:zz2cents:

Forgot to mention that my K9 handles great in the curves. The more throttle through the curves the more it feels like its stuck to the ground.

It handles great in the curves. You just have to watch for any large bumps or holes. I will pull on the handle bars when going over bad bumps for that extra protection from a jarring impact on my spine. I rode motocross as a kid so getting your $$s off the seat is important sometimes. The Ridgeback is a good ride based on its length, raked front forks, wide $$s back tire (its similar to a shock), and I have a push seat (I am 5'8"). It all works for me.

that Busa you have is not comfortable at all compared to the K9/Ridge. I have a K9 - rides great and it will be a softer ride than the RB but the RB looks better with the 330 - my opinion. Either way you will be happy and I don't really think you will be able to tell much from a test ride if you are new to a long/stretched out bike - because you will be more focused on figuring that part out for the first ride. As far as cornering - that's what your Busa is for - neither of the BD's corner well. Buy one - guarentee you will love it. I came off a R1 and never rode my R1 again after the K9 was in the garage.

You have to be comfortable with leaning a chopper over to corner. And, no chopper will corner like a sports bike, etc...

Yeah I definitly like that 330 . I'm kinda leaning towards rb I'm getting good feedback on the hardtail people seem to like them and it's a little more hardcore to ride a ridged.

I rode and seriously considered both, but where I live (HARD winters = BAD roads:rant:), I went with the softail.

Plus, I wanted the chopper style and BDM didn't offer Ridgebacks in the 15th Anniversary paint scheme I wanted.
So the K9 was pretty much a 'no-brainer' for me.

Bottom line 2 years later - I LOVE my K9...wouldn't trade it for anything!:2thumbs:
