newbe dumb question

i just bought my 03 pitt bull and have broken my glasses and cant see which way to turn the pitcock to turn the fuel off, any help would be appreciated, thanks.

in. or towards the front. away from you when sitting on the bike.

I'm not sure he's right about that. Going to the front would put you on RESEVRE, than if you pull back from that it should CLICK into OFF, and pulling all the way back it would be ON. At least thats the way it is on a K9

K9 is differant. It was differant between my 06 and 08 ridgeback.

Yup Yup. Foward is Reserve, Center is off. Back is on. (With the newer bikes)


P.S. Might want to get those glasses fixed you will need them:roll:

reserve is in the middle. all the way forward is off, all the way back or towards you is on.

OK, there is no such thing as a dumb question. You will probably want to get an owners manual to be sure. FYI, mine is mid position for off with a click. Forward is reserve and moving to the back is on.

Also worth noting.... On my pitbull, or "the older ones"... there is no "click". The petcock flows freely. It is a smooth operation, regardless of position. When adjusting from off/on, or vice versa, I pull/push it all the way, until it stops. Ive never had to put it on reserve. If I did, I would have to feel it, or stop, get off, & look to get it precise. One easy way to confirm WITHOUT being able to actually see the tiny engraving on it..... if it is smooth, you have the same as mine. Which would make sense, being the same bike a year older. If it "clicks" at the positions, it would be the newer style, which is highly unlikely.

On my 03 Pit Bull; while sitting on the bike "on" would be straight forward (towards the front end @ 12 noon) ~ reserve is the center position, or about 2 o'clock ~ and Off is still further back at about 5 o'clock (mine hits the coil cover when all the way OFF). Hope this helps.

Is yours on the right side or left side of the bike..? Mine is on the left side

Advises getting your glasses fixed before you run out of gas, I am confused now, I'd better leave mine alone. I understand how much you need your glasses too. I can't read anything close without mine.

Im the opposite though. I doubt i could assemble a motor with a 3rd grade instruction manual. However, I can shut my gas off

what is really embarrissing is i am a x pro drag racer that changed pistons between rounds, youth was wonderful old age sucks. i am getting new glasses tomorrow, thanks guys.

These guys could be right however, on my bike someone installed an aftermarken Golan Petcock, so on my 05 all the wy forward is on, center is off and all the way back is reserve. I ran totally out of fuel because I started out riding with it in the reserve position.

Okay now that's 3 different answers?????
