am I close enough to affording new? I'm in no rush, and I have plenty of patience.

I can wait another 3-4 months or so and come up with another $3-$5k but if I cant buy new at that price, why spend the extra cash on a used?

Appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks!

Man there are so many super deals on used bikes. And so many of them have such ridiculously low mileage. Why would you want to buy new? You can find some terrific Ridgebacks in the $16K price range. Besides, with BDM tit's up now it's not like buying new is going to protect you with warranty. Just saying, I'd buy used and save a pile of money that you can invest in after market ad ons. :2thumbs:

Why by the ridgeback, when you could get a k9 for that price. Save your body and enjoy the ride.. I noticed another member selling an 07 k9 for 15,500 in the swapmeet..
I have a buddy with a Ridge, and all he does is complain about the ride. If we go 100 miles he is done for the day...

Just my 2 cents

IMHO the only people that can see the extra room between the tire and the fender are the people behind you, anyway. but the thought about buying used is a very good one. the only thing you have to decide is if you want an older one with the 300 or the newer one with the 330. it ain't like you're contributing to the longevity of BDM anymore. :2thumbs::2thumbs::cheers:

how much difference in the ride between a K9 and a rigid on a scale of 1-10. 1 being extremely harder(rigid) and 10 being not much different.

thanks

I give both of them ridgeback and k9 a 7 on the open road but the k9 feels loose to me in a curve where the ridgeback seems more stable.

I test rode both the K9 and Ridgeback, back to back, and I preferred the ride of the Ridgeback. The only time I really notice the diff is in choppy corners or if I hit the big hole on the road...

Just so you guys know. I have nothing against the ridgeback. Just going off what my buddy says about his. Plus, I've been behind him enough, to know that pothole hurt something....
I like the way they look. But Hell, I like all the Big Dogs. And I'm sure in other states the roads are better. I've been on dirt roads that are smoother than the local streets, here in Idaho....
I built a custom rigid, and it was a kick to ride. I put the springs under the seat, even with the springs it was a ruff ride. But it was home built and not even close to a dog.. I'm a big wuss...... I admit it..

To each his own!! That's what makes this site great... We all love are pups.

I talked to the owner of our dealership (R&B Cycles) last week and was told they were selling everything they had for what they owed on them, basically to get rid of them. Which is a lot less than they were asking for them. If I wanted a new one and wasn't concerned about getting a warranty, personally I would let the dealerships set on them at least a few weeks, and look around and find exactly what you want, then no regrets.

It won't just jar something, it will shake you teeth out. You got to dodge the holes, deer, and even large ants. The ridgeback certainly isn't for trail riding.
I avoid my daughter's gravel driveway too. Dust more than holes. At 120 miles about the time most of us get gas or run out, it is time to get the feeling back into your butt.
