I went by the dealer close to us this afternoon and was told they closed Monday even before the dealers were told, leaving them the inventory they have on the floor. They didn't seem to thrilled about it either. I was told also Big Dog didn't have any intentions of opening back up in the future too, and something about being available to sell parts. I bought a key ring and a Jesus Sticker or my helmet.

I never had a warranty to begin with anyway, I found this forum, ask questions, got great answers from a great group of folks, and have been fixing it myself from the get go.

Can I get an A-men! on that my Brother and Sisters!!!

Even if all we have is a recreation of the company as Performance Parts, we will still be able to keep up and running with the bikes we currently own. This is good news if true.

I was told at Gateway Big Dog of St.Louis today the plan striaght from Big Dog is to roll out 2012 models, makes sense if sales are down stopping production is the responsible thing to do, apparently the of development of the four new models cost millions each, that being said its easy to see what is going on and I wish BDM the best.

All dealers are not full of shit as you so eloquently put it. I agree that may be the case with some-whether it's a BDM dealer, metric dealer, or HD dealer-but to encompass all dealers is just ignorant. If you've got a good mechanic then kudos to you, but not a good reason to put down other hard working people that do the best they can for their customers...

And scared of what exactly? Just because BDM closed their doors now the mechanics magicly won't know how to work on their bikes?? S & S Engine, Baker Trans, S & S Carb-all of the most important things needed to make the bike run can be gotten directly from those places (which we've been doing for a looooong time already)...most of the stuff that are BDM specific are the accessories...'nuff said.

Newsflash! Harley wont touch them and the BDM dealers are all pissed offed...Ok, so you work on it yourself, where you gonna find parts? Its a Bad situation...Only time will tell...IF BDM start making everything to build a bike, than they will get my business for a lifetime...Its only one reason, bikes cost over 30K....That's to put the owner in a Nice Mansion until he can find another investment....

Not a true statement MIAMI, my Harley dealers will work on my bike, they have S&S certified machanics here and they're not BDM dealers...Just saying...

I wish I had more money.
We have three hd dealers in this area that work on them as well. Besides the bd dealer. If you cant find someone to work on your bike you're not looking.

I think the opening of BDM Performance Parts leaves the doors open to building bikes again, but it doesn't mean that will happen.

It's all just a wait and see game now.

I dunno...to me, "parts" means "build kit".

Sheldon might have screwed me out of a warranty, but he's not stupid. My guess is they start BDM up again. Rather than production, they simply sell the kits to BDM Performance Parts Dealers. Sheldon off shores the little shit, buys OTS Baker/S&S, standard frames, keeps a small crew which basically is a shipping department and he retains his margins...probably improves it. No emissions bullshit, no title work crap, etc.

Dealer gets all the dirty work..and makes triple money on build, paint, set-up, etc. The problem is that the bike IS going to cost more.....

Basically...a custom bike which gets a BDM badge for those needing a label.

A genious idea. Everything is all ready in place. He writes off his loss and still makes cash. Dealers revenue goes up.

I know nothing....just my 2 cents if I were the HMFIC.

Bubblehead - is there a way to hide posts from certain people? There is one person right now who is posting non-stop negativity. I wish he would go fuck himself and put the keyboard down.

Hey guys if you are in or close to OHIO, I plan on doing everything I can to keep all dogs barken loud and strong. I am Jack Davis owner of Straight Shooter Custom Cycles, Big Dog Certified for 10years.
Been with BD too long to let things go now. As long as parts are available we will be fine. There is only a handfull of parts we need straight from BD.
