Anybody here try out a Bourget?

Like all customs right now they are dirt cheap on ebay. I have always liked the looks of the fat daddy or low blow with its oil in the frame low seat height. I have noticed that alot of the used bikes have had the motor rebuilt through bourget or privately with low miles on them???? Almost all of them have the 113 which I always thought was a tried and true stroker? Just wondering if anyone has had some seat time on one and how did it ride and handle? Thanks.

friend had the 05 fatdaddy chop with the mean street 70+mm front end.

bad ass looking bike

motor vibrated so bad the wheel would hop when stopped. bourget finally changed out the motor with an 03!

front end was heavy as hell. calculated the trail and it was 9+. how they let that bike out of their shop with that trail is just wrong. he had to buy raked trees to bring it down.

then he had the regular shit that happens with big inch bikes, tag bracket breaking, kickstand bolts coming out etc etc

Yes I agree some of them are ugly and raked to the point you would need a super walmart parking lot to turn them around. There is one on ebay with a big R&R motor going for 11k thats pretty sharp. You couldn't build that motor for the asking price of the bike. Some of the original invoice prices on the Bourgets are stupid money.

I just wanta ride
I ride with a friend his name is Bruce. Hes has an 05 Borget. Nice looking bike has 240 tire. Every time we ride as a group he rides in the back of the pack due to each time we ride a part drops off the bike  We give him hell about it. Nothing major wrong with the bike just vibrates and he looses bolts and such:lol: Would I buy one........................... It would have to be a stealer of a deal.

I drove one before buying my big dog and HATED it. Rode like shit, was uncomfortable, braking sucked and like the others have said vibrated to beat hell. I thought I might have that problem with all customs until I rode the '05 chopper. Loved it so much I bought it that day. Haven't regretted it since.

I bought my bike from a guy that was planning on buying a Borget after the deal closed. Well the deal closed, so I assume he bought the Borget. I guess that might mean it sucks to be him cause the bike he sold me got a Wire-Plus but otherwise I haven't had to do shit to it. He should have stuck with tried and true.:2thumbs:

I rode one at a dealership that was trying hard to get me to buy one. The high price was a turn-off in itself, then I rode it for about a 10 mile ride. The thing vibrated so bad that every part of my body that was in contact with the bike was numb. This might work for the guy that wants to take only short rides, it was not for me!

I looked at em several times and it was just not what I was looking for. When I told the salesguy I needed a bike for long trips he said to get a metric, told him it had to be an American V twin and he said stick to get a harley, told him I have one and was looking at the evolved bikes, like the saxons, BDM, Thunder Mountains and what not, he told me all these bikes are good for are bar hoppers and are not acceptable for out of town rides. This was at the Olympia HD/Bourget dealer. I was looking at both the Dragon models.
So I focused on the AIH, Saxon, BDM and several others. This sales guy was wrong on many levels, but in all my travels I have yet to see a bourget very far from home or with many miles. I have however talked to several who had them back in 2005/2006 and they loved them as they are completly different from everything else out there.

I say ride one and only you can determine what is right for you:cheers:

I'd say go and test ride it. You have a dog, so you can compare between the two and decide if it's for you...

I was NOT impressed with them the few times I visited the Bourget truck in Daytona. Nice to look at. The Rep's were assholes. The prices were outrageous. That guy from Ft Worth I hooked-up with, was riding a $40K West Coast Chopper and we spent a lot of time on the side of the road on his behalf. It goes to show it isn't how much you spend. Stick with what works. :spank:

I have riden a a couple of Dragons and they rode rough to me. Also believe the 113 is down tuned but how I don't know. The 113 from S&S is I believe advetised as 10/1 compresion and with a 600 cam. I just did't hear the thump from that. Also they engrave some of the rocker box tops so ya got to figure the engine had been at least opened. The Fatdaddy has that extra jackshaft in the drive train which give you a total of 3 belts or 1 chain and 2 belts. That just seems like somethin extra to deal with or get out of line.

Like the looks of the Dragon Chopper. Local dealer here has about 5 Bourgets for sale all new, old stock (06 and 07 models)

Haven't looked under the seat but like the electrical. Automotive style key switch for starting and a push button kill switch on the hand controls.

Wow good info, no wonder they are so cheap. When I bought my bike I was looking at the AIH slammer or BD mastiff, bulldog, boxer or prosport. A raked out rigid here in Vermont would be a death sentence with our shitty roads.
