Tried to jump bike, bad idea

Hey all, I've tried to diagnose my electrical issues with no luck. I've read many threads and need your assistance. If there’s a thread already posted which I missed let me know.

Here’s the scoop:
My bike sat in the garage for 2 months on a BDM battery tender. I went to start it a few weeks ago and got the click click click. I tried to jump it off my car (which I now know is a huge mistake :bang:) and it still didn’t start. I read a few posts and found that most problems were easily resolved with a new battery (the original owner had some generic piece of crap battery). I got the volt meter out and confirmed it's the battery, only reading 10 volts. Bought a new Braille battery. The bike started right up and runs great however it will not shut off using the key, the headlight isn’t working and neither is the neutral or oil pressure lights/gauges. The tack doesn’t light up nor does the odometer. The blinker lights work on the gauge and front/rear signals. Before I tried to jump the bike the headlight and all electrical was working just fine. While jumping it I didn’t notice smoke or anything burning up. I’ve checked for loose crimps, tight connections, dropped wires, blown fuses and anything that looks melted. I could find nothing.

Looking at the EHC I only see 1 solid red light and no others. This is while the bike is running and turned off. I removed the EHC harness and checked for moisture, clean it up and reapply dielectric grease. While doing so I came across the below pictures. One of the circuits is cracked in half diagonally from corner to corner and the silicone has melted thus exposing the circuit.

What do you think?

Your EHC has actually melted, that means it will never work again. Replace it, do a wire plus, or a PDM, or rewire the whole bike.

If I wanted to replace it, is there a newer model that would be better than my original? A direct replacement.

I've read all about the wire plus conversion and it's an excellent upgrade. I may consider that.

I'm not familiar with the PDM. Will search for threads on that.

If you're going to buy another EHC, then just take what you pay for that and add the cost of a wire plus or PDM, since an EHC will just fail again. The PDM is more or less a direct replacement. You just have to pull out the old harness and pull through a new one, not difficult by any stretch.

Ended up buying Chopper Dave's warranty replacement EHC with firmware. Bike runs like a dream. Figure it should last a while but will jump in on a WP group buy in the next year or so. Thanks guys.
