Karata 4" Open Primary delivered

I would be remiss if I did not bring attention to my experience with Karata so far. After a bunch of e-mails that were all promptly answered by Jim at Karata, I ordered the 4" open primary without OBS (which I made add later when the outer plate I like is in stock). I sent Jim a money order on Saturday. On Monday he let me know that he had received it, told me the primary was being shipped THAT DAY, and provided the UPS tracking number. My wife sent me a text message at 5pm today (Tuesday) saying it had been dropped off. That is prompt service. I will post pictures as soon as I get it installed and ride it back from the shop. Unfortunately Virginia is in for some crappy weather. Wouldn't that figure.

Congrats on the Karata Adrian. I have one also, just waiting to put it on. They are sweet belt drives. Jim is a great vendor to us...:2thumbs:

The plate is part of the outboard bearing support. The plates come in different styles. They currently don't have the style I like, so I am holding off on the OBS until they have it. Then again, I think it looks just as good without it, so I may keep it the way it is.

Does Jim Offer Forum Pricing? Or can you give me a link with pricing? I just added Vance and Hines dual radius, S&S Dual Runner, a 4" Primary would bring the other side of the bike up to spec LOL

so are you just runnin the 2 outer covers...i think they look trick but like the thought of the outer bearings for support...

Send him a private message. His username is Karata. I am taking it to Fullhouse Cycles in Winchester, hopefully towards the end of next week depending on the weather. It is a 60 mile ride from where I live and since they do great work they are pretty booked up. All I need are dry roads. I will definitely post pics. Carpetman has the 4" w/o OBS and has had no issues, and according to Jim it isn't necessary for the 4". The OBS can be added later if you go without it then decide later that you want one.

Post up pics of that 4" without the support. I'll have to ask him about a price.
I was just at Strokers in Dallas and they had a lot of bikes with belt drives. It made me want one more

If you do a search on "Karata" and scroll down to a thread started by Carpetman titled "Chin Spoiler" you will see what it looks like. That is what made me decide to go without the OBS. It looks incredible. Also check out the "Karata 3" on 2006 K-9" by f18mech. He posted some photos to show the clearance between the primary and his foot. I will definitely post some good pictures when I get it home, to include one with my feet on the peg so you can see the distance. I'll have to see if my 13 year old can help me load a video on youtube of me driving by so you can hear it. There is one on there now if you search "Karata Big Dog."

You sure you don't want to do this yourself. By the time you get there and back you could have been at least halfway done. Do a search for me and Gas Man port on installing this. It's not that hard as long as you have the right tools.
