Not impressed with Big Dog St Louis

So I've always given motorcycle shops he benefit of the doubt and try buying parts from local shops. Big Dog St Louis is my local Big Dog shop although its about 40 miles from my house. The first time I stopped in my girlfriend and I stood at the parts counter for about 5 minutes when I got tired of just standing there and decided to walk to the sales section and look for someone. I found a salesman standing in front of a TV watching who knows what. After I said excuse me a couple times with no answer I finally walked in the office and tapped the guy on his arm. He said, "Oh my bad I didn't see you, whats up" I told him I needed to check on a couple parts I had been looking for. He said, "oh yea hang on a few and the parts guy should be back up front." He then continued watching the TV without even attempting to help or page the parts guy. About 3 more minutes later and nothing or no one else, we walked out. Now I just got off the phone with the same shop and told them I was looking for some information on the VR since mine caught on fire a few months ago. I told him I lived about an hour away and would like to check locally for the part unless they had one in stock. He said he'd have to order one in, and gave me the BDM part number. I asked if he knew which vendor made it or possibly a non BDM part number, he said nope and hung up! :bang: I don't want to slam this shop, I don't really know the guys and some folks may have had great service from them, just not me. I guess I'm spoiled since most of my dealings with BDM in the past was in Wichita.
Sorry for venting! LOL My real question is below!

Maybe one of you could be more helpful.... I know my VR is a two prong type for a 32 amp big V EVO system. I found one through a local Harley shop which would have worked just fine but the lead back to stator was very tight and in my opinion needed about another .25-.50 inch more. So if anyone has or knows a non BDM part number, that would be great! I'd also rather find a black finned VR, another reason why I need a non BDM number. Thans for any help. OH yea! Its gonna finally be above 50 here this weekend and I gotta RIDE!

Got a CE320 on the way. :2thumbs:

Bad experiences are like food for me... I just eat the s**t pie and carry on with a full belly. Every now and then the pie really sucks and pisses me off so I rant a little bit and pitch a fit, then carry on and forget about it. I guess just knowing I'll be riding this weekend makes everything better!

I have never had an experience like that at their shop. I guess that could happen anywhere.... The STL shop is what made my decision firm on a Big Dog Ridegback...

Wow, I purchased my bike new from them, and since day one they have been real friendly and helpful. I personally have never had any issues from them. Any time that I go in there, they are pleasant and greet me by name. Sorry you had a bad experience with them.

Good to hear... This is why I said in my initial post, I don't really know the guys and some folks may have had great service from them, just not me.

I live in Canada and have no dealerships. I've been dealing with Biker's Dream out of Atlanta. They have gone above and beyond for me. Lannie or Don in parts and Steve is a forum member.

I didnt get my K-9 from them but the guys that work there are great! Im sure they get alot of lookers that never buy anything and with no intention of buying that waste their time, dont give up on them yet it may have been just a moment when it was slow and the guys ran for lunch,
