Anyone using a heal/toe shifter?

Just curious if anyone is using a heal/toe shifter? If so, how do you like it? My Road Glide is my primary bike and I always use the heal to upshift. Obviously I can't do it on the Big Dog.... yet.

Same as bbchopper-- took them off my streetglide and the wifes heritage- personnaly, don't see the need for them.

I always shifted a reverse pattern, but when I built my Yamaha there was no way to flip the pattern and no reverse shift drum so I stuck with a heel/toe because I could always kick it down to shift up. After awhile I got used to the regular pattern and never use it anymore. I could see maybe if you have short legs it would be convenient, but otherwise not much use for it.

Use the toe heel shifter all the time on my Ultra Classic. I find it easier to just tap down on it to shift than using my toe.
Wouldn't have it any other way..

I think you guys misunderstood my question. I was wondering if anyone put a heal/toe shifter on their Big Dog.

There was a member a while back that came up with a heal/toe setup... just can't remember who! :spank:

I got used to that type of shifter on my FatBoy and have always felt the setup on the K-9 is lacking the positive feel a heal/toe gives you when you're running it through the gears... :2thumbs:

Yeah I'd think you'd need a floorboard for that? I don't understand the regular shift pattern, it's retarded. 1 up 5 down and you'll never miss a gear.

Chris there is nothing technical to it, it's like a teter-toter, since you are pushing down with your heal, instead of pulling up with your toes. I believe that's what he meant about the reverse shift pattern.

You wanna get fucked up climb on an old Bultaco dirt bike with the shifter on the right and the brake on the left. I would constantly down shift with no clutch. :loony:

Got it on the Ultra and it took a while to get use to it but I like it.

Heck I even switch from the heel/toe to regular on the nightster... it's fine.

You are so right about the Bultaco dirt bikes... Had one in the early 70's that I hill climbed with... Man it would go up anything even with a lip at the top it would dig in and push over.....
I grew up in Florida in the pits....
Had a Husqvarna 400 dirt bike that was like hitting warp speed when it came on.... Most impressive bike....
Still remember the Kawasaki 350 Bighorn when it came out 21 inch front wheel and the wicket Suzuki 250 Champion. All awesome bikes in there own rights...
Later on when the Honda Elsinores came out they really ruled in that time frame...
Sorry for the small hijack of the thread but it really brought back some of the most awesome memories of my young hood....
Man those were the days....:cheers::cheers::cheers:

I would love to re-live just one day on those bikes....:D

i thought Moe was sayin that he changed something in transmission to go from 1 down and 5 up to 1 up and 5 down ... would seem that it would be no question youd hit your next gear! :D
