Winter Project

So, I am new to the forum and new rider (just in case some missed out on the intro). I've loved BDM's since they came out and now got my first back in 08. I decided to get an older model to get the hang of it and make sure (just in case) I would not ruin a bad ass bike. Well I have decided to clean it. Love the way it shines..... But like my buddy once told me, chrome does not get you home... (EHC problems), i have decided to take it apart and learn about my bike. And seemingly enough there have been tons of people that have dissed out BDM... I got it to LEARN and loving it too much...

I have made several mistakes along the way...

Trying to fix the throttle.. dropped the housing and made a scratch on the tank... :bang: I got a cover for next time... pissed me off that i did that!

So I took it off and off to Custom Specialties in Amarillo, TX. I still dont know what design I want... That K9 pin stripping looks bad ass and its simple... Any recommendations are welcome....

And want to Get rid of the stupid EHC unit... working on it... The bike will be gutted, hopefully by next week... Will take tons of pics and hopefully get them posted.... I am exited to get this Dog running....

Great to see you taking this on. These things aren't that complicated once you get into them and there is enough info and experience here to get you through most any problem. I am ditching the EHC this winter also and going to the Wire Plus. I understand the BDM has a new upgraded EHC coming out soon but the Wire Plus has been proven here by other members. I haven't had any personal experience with Airbrush Ed but have seen some pics of his work. He is your man for a head turning paint job and he can help you decide what you want for your ride. Keep posting up pics of your progress.

Definitely a case of alcohol abuse! Are you having issues with your EHC? They don't all screw up but I ditched mine while it was in perfect working condition. Just peace of mind for me. Wire Plus is proven and not that hard to install. Good luck with your winter project. My winter project is riding. Getting up to 69 today. Looks like another trip to Hooters. Bikes, beer and babes all under one roof. Good luck!

Thanks for the compliments guys!
Yep, I would be happy to do your paint job for you. But this is the busiest time of the year for me, so winter spots are filling up. "He who hesitates is lost"!

Well Jose the ding in the tank is no big deal, but dumping a beer now that was unacceptable. Good luck on the modifications!

Its
awsome to see projects comming along in pictures.
My bike is now standing on its own. I'm shopping for clutch, callipers
V&H Big Radius pipes, starter jackshaft gear.Drive belt. Wireing and oil lines.
A short list but most are expensive items.
I want to post pics of frame to finish-and then the cost-I think it might have been less expensive to buy a bike, But the build is lust the way I want it.
I'll try and figure out to get some pics on the site.

Questions on the Sportster ignition switch!!!

I got the switch and I got my wireplus kit.... I have started working on the installation of the switch and broke the tap and only one set screw is holding on to it.. I may try tapping one more screw... Sucks!

I need a little help...

On Jakes How To: Ignition Switch swap to Sportster style

Jakes picture looks like this: http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r143/bdmridgeback/ReWiring/DSCN0437.jpg

Mine is slightly different, see picture attached.. (green dyno)... What in the heck do I do with the two wires going to the green dyno????......:confused::confused::confused:

Does the wire plus kit takes care of these two wires attached to the sides?

For you Wire Plus veterans... Can you please provide assistance....? Thanks in advance!
