Anyone else have a 2 piece tank and have a problem with the left side cap leaking? Whats a good solution?

How the hell do you put too much gas in a frickin gas tank? Yes, It only leaks on the kickstand after fueling, but it's not like there is a damn fill line that is visible. If it is not topped off I will spend half the day in the fucking gas station. The bottom line is, the damn thing should seal and not leak period!:bang:You sure you don't have to much gas in the tank? Never heard of that, It happened to me when I accidentally filled the tank to much.
G, take your cap apart and see if maybe the vent line is open. Only the right side cap is vented but your left side one may have an opening of some kind. How the hell do you put too much gas in a frickin gas tank? Oh I did not take it like that! I am just frustrated at the damn leak...lol I guess I just need a new / different cap. I really was not aware that there was a specific fill level for the tank.Easy Killer. Just giving you a reasonable answer, not being a wise ass about it.

Are you talking about some kind of expansion?Top off any bike to the top on a hot day, watch what happens next...
I think it is probably just a damn seal gone flat!G, take your cap apart and see if maybe the vent line is open. Only the right side cap is vented but your left side one may have an opening of some kind.
Easy to take apart and if there is a missing plug, fill it with some good RTV that can be used with fuel.

My '04 Mastiff tends to lose a little gas from the left half cap, on warm days, after putting too much gas in the tank. It has done this from day one. I just don't fill the tank to the brim when fueling.!!!Top off any bike to the top on a hot day, watch what happens next...
Thank you for your kind words.!!!!HEY HIP, GREAT LOOKING MASTIFF BY THE WAY. I'M IN MARYLAND, MAYBE WE CAN HOOK UP AND RIDE SOME DAY. I'M AN OLD HIPPY MYSELF. GLAD I CAN STILL REMEMBER THE 60'S , AFTER MY HABITS IN THOSE DAYS!![]()
Two piece tank vs one piece tank don't work the same.JUST A NOTE, MY ONE PIECE TANK WILL LEAK PAST MY CAP IF I FILL IT BEYOND THE OPENING BELOW THE TOP FILLER HOLE. IF I LOOK DOWN IN MY TANK THERE IS ANOTHER HOLE AND IF I JUST FILL MY TANK TO THAT HOLE I NEVER HAVE A PROBLEM. IF I GO PAST THAT POINT IT WILL LEAK WHEN I HIT ANY KIND OF BUMP UNTILL I BURN OFF THE EXCESS GAS THEN EVERYTHING IS OK. DO YOU HAVE A SECOND RING OR HOLE DOWN IN YOUR 2 PIECE TANK?
