Yeah gas cans are a God sent...

There is also the muffler push in our case, the lisence plate stiff leg push....

Here are a few tricks to save face when performing these intelligent stunts;
1. when speed shifting(always happens in front of large crowd) and you miss a gear....IMMEDIATELY look down at the bike's transmission like there must be something wrong with it..makes you look like you know your shit!
2. when doing a burnout(again in front of large group) always look at your ground surface material...HINT going from asphalt to concrete will catapult you over hbars.
3. when running out of gas or forgetting to turn on gas...(see step one) look down at your motor like your listening for an actual engine problem.
4. when doing burn out (again you've gathered a crowd) and you throw off a rear or primary belt....Remedy...go back inside and get drunk

I speak of these incidents from experience and I'm not telling how many times it's happened

Good advice Vickie but I agree with most no more than 120 miles max before refueling the K9. IF the next station is past that point fill er up. But I have gone the ol 50 ft before realizing the gas wasnt turned on a few times.

We've talk about this subject so many times on this site, but the stories never cease to be funny. I'll bet BD engineers laugh their ass off.....their little joke on us....let's put a gas reserve of two miles and see how many get caught pushing their ride to a station.

I never checked gas level on the HD. My gauge to find a gas station was, sputter, switch to reserve and I had 20 miles to find the brand and location I liked.

These days I don't leave home without topping-off and I never push it past 120 miles. There are times I put less than a gallon in when starting out because I can't remember what the last ride was. Times have changed. A gas gauge would be the a useful addition or at least locate the petcock father forward to warn you sooner it's time to get gas. :moped: :) :)

Even in my short period of ownership, my sled ran out when I was making a left turn, switched to reserve, made it two miles to home, shut down...would not restart. Had to drive to the gas station in my car, fill up can and replenish...started right up. Damn...my ATV's last longer on reserve.

Hey TS, ain't nothing like running on the edge of embarrassed disaster when one's Choppa flashes over to reserve. Can't remember how many times I've been there and done that! :) BDM could have made that tank a 4.5 gallon and that would have made those moments a bit more rare. Great looking Choppa baby! Of course I'm a bit biased now ain't I?

Hey Coach, I'm with you. BDM could have done that for sure.
I spent some time in Greenville. My sister lived there. Nice town, great weather for most of the year. Close to Myrtle beach, yea buddy!

I'm with ya on that Nelson! Did that yesterday at the Harley store grand opening. I was the only Dog there and I had them all looking at me leave including Hell's Angels members and as I hit the gas leaving the lot it supttered and died. You know that commercial " wanna get away" that was me. I forgot to turn the "F'in" fuel on. I just slid away with my head down.  I could hear them laughing as I turned the fuel on. So Lee, worry not amigo, it happens to us all and always at the worst moment.

Hell yeah Lee ... I'm betting just about all of us have had that happen one time or another. I've forgotten to turn the fuel back on and have been embarrassed riding out of a parking lot. PLENTY of gas ... I just hadn't decided yet if I wanted it going to the carb. :bang:

I wish the petcock were on the right side so I can hold the clutch in while switching to reserve...

I really thought for about 2 weeks something was wrong with my bike because it would only take 2.3 gallons of gas and only went about 50 miles before running out.

Who knew...on dual tanks the left tank is reverse thread.:bang: :bang: :bang:
