What's the story on the new EHC's?

Got a guy with a 2008 K9 looks like a bad EHC. The season is over anyway, and honestly I don't have the time to install a wire plus right now. Isn't BD coming out with a new EHC soon? What's the deal?

moe, if i am right, the co. has designed their own elimination wiring plug-n-play to do away with the ehc completely. from what i have read, they are close to the same price as the wire-plus but don't go hardly as far, but they are p-n-p. bad/good news is they are doing away with the production of the ehc completely. I THINK.

Correct, WB!

the following is the memo that BDM sent me:

"No EHC will be available for the 2004 to 2008 Big Dog Line of Motorcycles. All the new motorcycles will have the same system that is in the 250 K-9. The replacement systems are not available yet. They should be available around the first of the year, 2011. They are to be plug and play and specifice to the models due to the length of the wiring harnesses. The first ones available will be for the 2005 to 2008 K-9 and the Mastiff. Other models will follow"

That's that last we have heard. - LF

I heard last week that they may not even become available as a replacement for the older '05-'10 models, only a production unit only for new bikes. From a very good source, but who knows... This new unit has been pushed back numerous times over the last 6+ months!

I just spoke to a local BD dealer who says the new "module" is available, but is not made by wire plus or thunderheart? It's the brand new one, that has just been released in the last month or so. She said she can order it for me for around $550.

Huh... as of last week the tech at BDM said nothing is available. The new module that they are speaking of is for 2011 BDM production bikes and isn't going to be available for '05-'10 retrofit for some time, if ever. BDM is still sending all EHC inquiries to Wire-Plus.

My Ridgeback has been at Rock Star Customs in NJ since August with a fried EHC. Every time I call there is another excuse from BDM why the new EHC is not ready. Apparently, the replacement module is not compatible with the Ridgeback battery box and so that has to be re-engineered as well with no ETA. Since the Ridgeback was one of the least popular models, it has been pushed to the back burner.

I told my wrench to button it up and I'm coming over for it. I'll do the Wires Plus conversion myself. F++k BDM.

Called yesterday to OKC Thunder Cycles they said they're available and in the high $500 dollar range. $565 I think they said for a 09' Mastiff. They're building as fast as they can and are a little behind though.
