Helmet paint to match bike - badass or assbad?

I'm bored and making my Xmas list. 2 part question.

1) What are you using for a low profile helmet? i.e. slim, yet protective. Appears a few companies have come and gone lately. Daytona?

2) Thoughts on matching helmet to bike paint. I'm torn. 51% of me says it's a bit metro on a badass bike.

I did it at first I was real careful because of the $ I had spent on the paint but now I treat it like the skid lid it is.

HERE IT IS PERFORMING AS A KIICKSTAND
and I should add my friends that ride call me Metro

I and the babe wear Bell Drifters, very well made quality helmets. They come with detachable ear and neck warmers, and a carry case. They aren't custom painted. But the bike is black so they match.

To each his own. One thing I have considered in doing this is that if you ride too much it will get a lotta scratches from stones and shit of the road, i have 4 helmets and all of em have ROAD MARKS.

I wear a cheap skid lid. I bought 3 helmets for $15.00 at the Long Beach swap meet. I think my stickers cost more than the helmet.

Matching Paint---Bike/Skid Lid

:flag:  :D :2thumbs:

I have seen both matching and mis/match of paint schemes on many bikes.

As for my taste both are acceptable, it just depends on the paint scheme and

how everything either goes together or clashes. Some peoples` taste is in

their mouths, if you know what I mean. As for Tom Chop the coin spent on

matching the paint spent will be be better spent on add-ons or maintenance

supplies. Just my preference rather than trying to match the bling of my K9.

IMHO. :flag: :D   :2thumbs:

I do my own paint work so if I paint the bike I paint my helmet.
I don't go crazy trying to keep it nice.
Hell I just leave it hanging off my right side peg when I park. If someone steals it oh well. Not worth carrying it around.
If you clear coat it most scuffs will polish out if you feel the need.

I bought a Carbon /Kevlar non DOT bucket and love it. I feel it will do the job if it ever arises......and it looks cool!

No offense but the Bell Drifter is the size of a watermelon. I hate those things. I had one and wore it exactly twice. It was freaking huge! I am still trying to find a slim helmet that is DOT approved but my search has come up empty. If some company would come up with a small, DOT approved helmet they would make a fortune... it must be harder to do than one would think.

Yeah I agree BigSpenda, they certainly aren't a fashion statement that's for sure, but they are one of the best I could find and my brain is worth it. Had an old timer tell me once: If you got money....keep it a bank, if you got brains keep it in a helmet. It's safe keeping of your valubles. I live in Florida where I don't have to wear one, but I do most of the time.

I have looked for alternatives in a "cooler" looking helmet. My biggest bitch is at high speeds the Bell wants to catch the wind and blow back. I just push it low in the front and bow my head a bit to keep it in place.....and keep twisting that wrist.

Try HD helmets they are some of the best fitting that I've seen. Only issue is all the Harley crap on them. There was another thread on this...

I'm not sure on the bike / helmet match seems to me a little not right IMHO...

That's exactly why stopped wearing it. I thought the damn thing was going to pull my head off when going over 40mph. God help you at over 55mph. Checking your blind spot while changing lanes became an adventure all unto itself. I have been wearing an HCI plain old helmet that seems to work better for me.

You're right. There is a long thread as I recall in the riding gear area I think. I haven't searched for it though. I 100% agree about the HD helmets. They fit well and are somewhat low profile (in comparison to others on the market). I really mean that I wish someone would make one just a bit larger than a novelty lid and make it actually protect my grape, I would love it!

Last fall I bought a new light weight HD half helmet that is lighter than the ACC carbon fiber beanies that are not really DOT But it was pricey $250

Another round please
I bough a old easy rider helmet on ebay. Looks cool, fits great for being 40 years old at least. Cops off my f-ing ass. Paid like 60 bucks. Padding inside is shot. My dad had one back in the 70's. I thought it was cool. May not go with the bike, old school, new school, but I like it.
