Important Warranty Info

Ok here it goes.

I like my dog - a lot. But, there have been issues that have resulted in me filing a legal claim.

I won't disucss details but will tell you this: When I bought my Dog the dealer installed V&H pipes. Even though they are an authorized accessory, have a BDM part number - I was told by BDM that my bike has been "modified". I shit you not.

Obviously, I'm fighting that.

Just a word of caution to all.

My formal complaint, along with exhibits, pictures and video are posted on a web site. Everything is a matter of public record.

I won't post the web here, in fear of being banned by the admin, but if anyone wants to see it - PM and I'll give you the link.

Again, I really like my dog, I just wish BDM would step up to the plate.

Thanks for the support guys...
I am entitled to a refund and I'm not asking for that. I like the dog.

Basically, its 1)Fix it or 2)Replace it

Last thing she said was return to factory with a month of loss of use, then she hit me with the "bike was modified" bs...

Even if they did refund - there's nothing out there I would prefer to buy - just go to another dealer and buy another dog all over again :)

Lambo,

Sorry to hear that you have to go to legal, but you and only you can make that decission since the rest of us can only look from an outsider view. Do not know what the issues are overall, but if the only thing that is throwing them off on mods is a set of V&H Pipes (and nothing else), I would agree that is some BS. Especially with the V & H since they now push V & H and MM as an add on in their adds, at the dealer and in the catalogs.

Unusall that BD does not step up, for they are known for taking care of the customers within reason. Why they are not with you is hard to say, but would not want to second guess you or for that matter BD without knowing all the facts and history, but a set of pipes holding up warranty claim (if that is the only issue) if BS unless such pipes are so unusall that they caused the problems.

One last thing, from waht I read on my warranty and from the general warranty laws, any changes have to be shown to be part of the problem before it is legit denied. As an example, change an air cleaner should not void the warranty on an oil pump going out unless they can show that the air cleaner let to the failure of the oil pump.

Good luck

LamboV12, sorry to hear this but seriously it sounds more like the dealer than the company.
I'll bet 95% of the members here have aftermarket exhaust (most with V&H) and get regular service.
What dealer are you using? It's not Trotta's shop is it? Forgot what part of FL you are in!

Hope BDM works it out with you. :flag:

Later,
Ray

Go directly to BD if you are not dealing with them now. I had an issue and tried to deal with the dealer with no luck. Then went direct to BD and it took two tries but they responded and took care of the problem. Hope it work out for you.

Yeah, call customer service.

My dog went out of warranty november of last year and, there's been an ongoing issue I've had and, even though the bike has been out of warranty for over a year, they're still going to fix it on their nickel.

I've had nothing but good things to say about BDM and their warranty people. My bike has V&H big radius on it and, they're not having an issue with that.

Sorry to hear that you're getting the run around though.

Yeah, my experience has been good with them for normal warranty stuff.

But, I have some problems that won't go away...
Belt rubbing on tire ain't good...
Afterfire louder than shotgun - 4 different mechanics at Trott's could not fix, nor could a HD/BD dealer..

Now - they want to take it back for a month... then for me to sign a settlement agreement when the bike returns - they won't show me the settlement agreement up front, so I have no idea what it is I'm signing. If the bike starts acting up again, nothing in writing about what's next - other than sending it back to the factory again for another month or who knows what...

I'm sure it will all work out and I prefer to keep this bike and have it fixed rather than a replacement or refund - but now it's up to the arbitrator.

My speedo has done exactly the same thing at about 1400 miles. Just fog after 4700 miles, no dimming yet. Last service I told them and they said they'd replace it, but it has to come from factory as they have to get it reset to my mileage. Not sure how they'll actually do that as I will have to ride it there (60 miles away) so not sure how I'll ever be able to know EXACTLY the mileage on it. They probably want me to leave it for a month. No WAY! I hope you get your items fixed in a short time with your suit.

I talked to my dlr warranty rep today and have a new speedo coming, but I want to under estimate the mileage. Back to zero would be great.

Looks like some fairly simple stuff to fix to me. They should take it back and fix it and give you some sort of compensation for the down time. Good luck.

BDM at the factory will reset it to your current mileage, then send it to the dealer for install - that's the right and best thing to do. If they install one with zero miles, then there's a ton of paperwork that has to go with the bike forever and you have to disclose that if you ever want to sell it.

I just want to make it clear, again - I really like my bike - and I'm sure it will all work out.

Just bummed about the idea of taking a cager to Daytona
