I put the baffles back in my exhaust and when I ride to the pub for a bit of ounch today its sputtering, hesitating, cutting out etc etc etc. I leave it at the pub, go home to get some tools, go back and take the baffles back out. Riding home its sputtering, hesitating and cuts out and wont start. Turn to reserve and appears I'd run out petrol - what a dick!

I went as far as buying a new battery thinking mine was to weak to start her before checking my fuel level.

Was almost afraid to click on this thread for fear of what might be behind it. Yea Lee, it happens, but usually going down the freeway at 80 with a semi truck on your ass.

Hell yeah Lee ... I'm betting just about all of us have had that happen one time or another. I've forgotten to turn the fuel back on and have been embarrassed riding out of a parking lot. PLENTY of gas ... I just hadn't decided yet if I wanted it going to the carb. :bang:

Lisa did the exact same thing on her sportser in the summer - in front of a lot of people - funny shit

Dude, unless you live 150' from a pub, my bike would never have made it with the fuel off. The couple times I've done it, I barely made it to the end of the driveway. Sux.

The last time I ran out I had just passed a gas station....lol. I knew I was getting low, but figured I'd wait for the 94 Octane @ Sunoco that was still 5 iles or so away. Felt like a dick walking down the side of the road with a gas can....mind you it was a Sunday in the middle of the "bike cruise" area.

Funny you should mention... ran out yesterday on a long bridge. Reached down to turn on reserve, figured I'd make it across the bridge to the first exit. NOT! Got TWO friggin miles out of the reserve. Had to call the girlfriend to get gas, drive over the long bridge, turn around and bail me out... I'm still hearing about it~!

2 miles on reserve, wonder what's up with that. I flipped to reserve once, trying to get I think 15 miles out of her, didn't make it.:bang:

Well travel to work is approx 25 miles. Thinking I got 3 to 4 miles away before flipping it to reserve. At best I believe 15 miles. Luckily my boss was running behind me. I had her shoot up to the gas station, buy a can, gas it up and bring it back to me. First crank, ba boom, she backfired. Think it was the dogs way of telling the locals to F OFF for not offering up a sip of fuel.

I ran out the first (and hopefully last time) two blocks from my house. I had to push it to the damn house...that was a long two blocks!
