Possible Battery Tender Problem

Wondering if anybody knows what might be going on with my battery tender. Normally I plug it in, and I get a solid red light, indicating that it is charging, and then the red light goes out, and the green light comes on, indicating storage mode.

Today I plugged it in, and got the red light, and walked away, came back a few hours later, and there are no lights on. I thought it may have gotten disconnected so I unplugged it from the wall socket, and the bike, plugged it back in, and got the same thing, red light showing charging, then red goes out, and then no lights.

Any ideas? I did put it up to my ear, and I can hear that it is running.

This is the first time I have seen this, I have always seen the steady green light in the past until I unplug it.

Thanks in advance.

same kinda shit happened to me. i had one of the little cheapo tenders. amber meant it was charging and green meant it was charged. i went in one day and the green light was off and my battery was shot.

haven't had it on a tender since. that was a few months ago.

get a volt meter...green led may be dead. If you don't show a charge and hold a charge then its toast. I got one for my other bikes at harbor freight and they're going on 3 years now so prob worth the 12 bucks.

This one is the "Battery Tender" brand. Figured it was the better one to get.

Thanks, I will see if I can borrow my neighbors voltmeter, and give it a try.

I would say you are doing well for $12.00 buck.

Battery Tender Pus is guaranteed for 10 years, return it. I just picked one up today at Interstate Batteries.

Don't think I have the box, or receipt anymore. By the way, that is a great looking bike you have Warden.:2thumbs:

Contact Deltran at 386-736-7900. They stand firmly behind their products and will probably help you out, even without a reciept. If they won't help you out, contact me privately and I'll see what I can do for you.

make sure the inline fuse between the bike connector and battery didn't pop. Had that happen once....:bang:

You might try cleaning up the connections at the battery. They can get a little crusty and break contact over time.

Mine did that and the battery was shot. I replaced it with an Interstate battery for $112, and it cranks like a champ. I kept one on the old car we are restoring, a brand new battery, the lights started acting weird, but it said it was good to go(green light) it would not crank at all. Replaced battery again!

Thanks for the replies guys.:2thumbs: I talked with Deltran, the manufacturer today. Very friendly, and helpful.
They had me try a couple of things to trouble shoot the tender, and they said that it looks like the the green light has failed.

And RazzBarlow, you were right, they definitely stand behind their product. They said it is warranted for ten years, and to send it back for a new one. You do have to send a check to cover the shipping, and handling. What is cool is if you have a receipt it is $12.95, but if you don't have a receipt they will still help you out, but will charge $17.95 and still replace it.

I did some searching, and found my receipt, so even better. Anyway, thanks again for all the input.
