Factory speedo upgrade info

I have the same or similar problem as you all. I have an 08 K-9. My problem seems to be the rubber button. ANY exposure to moisture and it will fill with water and/or fog up. I actually had to put some duct tape over it to prevent the problem. Put in a claim to Big Dog through my service center, but they haven't had any word back yet.

I use a Ziplock freezer bag over my speedo when I wash my bike. It cuts down on the water intake, but it still fogs up. :job:

I have an '09 Ridgeback that has never seen water. The speedo fogs just a bit at the bottom. I did notice that on an extemely hot/humid day, it did not fog...

The new retro-fit kit for the newest speedometer that is on the Bulldog will be coming out real soon. It's a great speedo and will eliminate the tach ring on your current set up.

And the new wiring system should be out soon that eliminates the EHC!

Definitely interested in this new set up - my tach boards out and I cant find one...Will this fit a 05 Pitbull?

Can anyone get a real date from the factory on the speedo upgrade?

And what is the wiring fix that is discussed? Can someone educate me on this one?

My speedo needle bounced since day one. Last week it shuts down and re-starts with a self check while riding. :spank: I gave up and pulled it out and am about to order a Dakota Digital. After reading this post I am on the fence about the new BD one. Will it be another POS like my last one where guys on this forum are replacing it 10 times? As far as fogging goes I had an 04 HD springer that fogged up too.

Let me know when you are ready. I will call and check availability. Last I called Red was available and Blue would be available the first week of Jan.
Was told they will be switching suppliers that manufacture an internal part and that this should eliminate any further backorder problems. Let's Hope.:2thumbs:

Ken, not sure on the new BD however on the Dakota you can set the miles during the first 100 miles. I'm told it's a snap.

Well, I guess I am the only one that cares... Here is the info (from Big Dog factory) about the new style speedo upgrade. I placed my order last week. delivery will be early Feb.

We actually just released these upgrade kits yesterday to open orders up, but we are still in the purchasing phase of getting all the parts here to build them. It is still early so I do not have any ETA... You will want to contact Iron Lightning in Tulsa to order one for you (they may not know we have them yet, but it's possible)

Part numbers are

Chrome - 173-000097-01 - $387.00
Polished - 173-000097-02 - $378.00

They can get a pre-order in for you

Has anyone got the new speedo yet?
I paid for mine middle of Jan and was told I would have it early Feb. As usual, no word, but they had to have my money up front.
