hey hollywood, Im just tired of the bs that bdm has shown, thats all, nothing against the members of the forum, to each his own, you know what I mean? I think that people should be honest, you know, about what they say, mean and do, and if your, or my, word isnt true than what do we have? like I said, I wasnt meaning to tick anyone off, just sayin what I feel, thats why I even put the part about "I luv my bike when its runnin", nobody else builds a bike that looks like bdm, but there are bikes built better than bdm, I ride my bike and get all kinds of looks from all kinds of people, but cmon, a bike, car or even tricycle is only good as far as it goes, and bubblehead, by the way, theres a guy(Ive only heard, so its just hearsay) that has started to sue bdm cause his fender bracket broke and his front fender went under the front wheel making him crash, this has made him paralized waist down, dont hold me to this though, its only hearsay, but from my exp I can believe it cause what happened to me and my fender, no pics here, but I can show you the scuff marks on the forks and front rim plus the receipt of the new brackets and fender, paint ect, Im not on here to bs anybody.

Like I stated in my earlier post, my experience may not be typical or maybe it is but BDM took care of me and my wheel issues - OUT OF WARRANTY. This wasn't ancient history only a couple of months ago. BIG VTwins create quite a lot of vibration (all VTwins even the Jap bikes), every so often you need to check tightness (with correct torque specs) on nuts and bolts before sh#t falls off. For people who just want to ride or show their bikes and not do at least minor maintenance a BigDog shouldn't be you choice. Look I've had other VTwins both Jap and HD's (still got my VRod) and both have had stuff get loose that I caught before they fell off with just a pre-ride check. Don't know if anyone every saw or had a Honda CX650 Custom but I did, MotoGuzi still V (side to side) that had a lot of torque pull to the right or left depending on how it felt at the time when you got on it hard. That bike shook loose stuff constantly always had to tighten something. Just about 4 weeks ago I almost lost my left front side cover on my VRod cause a bolt backed out and God knows where it went. Real safe riding down the road leaned down holding in place till I got home - so what got another bolt replace it and I'm back on the road. Not trying to bust your chops just all bikes have issues at some point just depends on how much you want to deal with. Can't we just all get along - OH and ride.

I have had shitloads of trouble with mine, and im over here in England where the waranty is useless as well as re-calls so its cost me a small fortune to have anything changed or repaired.......But i still the hell love riding it, and i suppose it will cost me loads more to keep it on the road......

I have had my EHC,voltage regulator,ignition switch,clutch hub nut,starter,strut bolts all replaced,while in warranty,through Big Dog..never with any hassle cause you can catch many more flies with honey.........as the saying goes...matter of fact they replaced the EHC(ECH?) outta warranty.....The thing that most likely differs from some of us on the site than others is that our $30,000 purchase wasnt an impulsive buy,and we did the research and knew pretty much what to expect in the realms of issues with the bikes prior to purchase.for me when issues started arising if I didnt allready know what it was,it was very simple to come aboard this site ask a few questions and search around and within the same day get a reply and answers to any and all questions.......and therefore a remedy was devised and the decision was mine how to go about fixing it........My first choice was not jumping up and down blaming the company for a faulty product,allthough it is in my nature....I hear this all the time..... just because you spent upwards of $25,000 dont think your that special that BDM should and will helicoptor in everytime your bike breaks down and fix it.....you are not that special and neither was your $25 grand........
IF YOU THINK ITS A PIECE OF SHIT,AND THAT BDM IS A LOUSY COMPANY,GET RID OF THE BIKE AND BUY A HARLEY OR HONDA AND STOP COMPLAINING ON A WEBSITE THAT IS 99% PRO BDM...AINT NO ONE WANTS TO HEAR IT..IT GETS VERY OLD VERY QUICK...

I talked to Toyota yesterday. I own 2 of them and a Honda. Seems like our 07' Corolla is going to be recalled next month for ECM replacement.

Guys I think we're starting to miss the point here! Jaybird was just venting like many of us have and continue to do. Many of us love these and do realize that they are customs and with customs comes a certain amount of should we say "individuality," lol! Many of us are also old enough to have ridden and do remember when HD's gave us a lot of issues also. They have progressed. But I know that I, and probably many others, would have imagined that in today's modern times there would have been a marriage of modern proven technology used by lets say HD and individuality of a somewhat mass produced custom chopper! That's all I had hoped for and thought I was paying for, the updated technology of today by a large bike builder with the coolness and individuality of a chopper. If I were doing it again, knowing what I know now I would have built what I could myself and had someone more knowledgeable finish what I couldn't. I would definitely make sure that I had an HD style wiring harness and electronics, lol!!!!!

Jesus Christ, this is makin me crazy. ANY manufacturer is gonna put out a lemon once in a while. I've had seven bikes in forty seven years and my dog is the best bike I've ever owned. My '07 Harley softail custom's front tire wore out in 4K miles on one side. I figured bad tire and replaced it. Aligned it myself and it did the same thing. Two dealers and Harley all said "sorry about your luck" (paraphrasing) Sold the bike and after a lot of research, mostly here on this forum, and bought my Dog. In 25,000 miles I've had the voltage regulator replaced and broke a clutch cable after 7K miles, just had to have the exhaust guides replaced (TP boxes) at 25K. I now change the cable at 5K and will change out the guides in another 25K. When I leave the house I'm confident it's gonna bring me home. If your gonna have a custom and ride in style your gonna have to make allowances and maintain it. What??? You think BDM is the only bikes with occasional problems??
How about a poll on who is satisfied and who ain't..... :angry:

Sounds like someone who can't wrench for shit. Fix it or get it fixed or sell it and move on. We have helped many BDM riders on here and it seem there is alway that one asshole who can't get enough warranty or free work. Always looking for that free bee. I have owned my dog for 5 years now and not once has it left me on the side of the road. I fix and maintain my own no warranty or recall for me. I find out what the fix is and get er done. I also have two HD (2009 Sporty & 2010 FatBoy) and they are dependable,, but so is my dog. The only difference between my dog and the HD is power which is no where to be found on the trusted HD. Oh the HD's have a fuel gauge :lol::lol: I love to ride either of them and when I hit a snag I fix it. Why pay to have someone else fuck it up for you when you can do the same for less :lol::lol:

Move on if you don't like Big Dog, tired of hearing BDM this and BDM that. Sell it, give it away to Toys for Tots, put some money in it and stop whining.

Yea my IQ is registerable unlike yours! My EHC went out and there are no more to be had. WP was on backorder at the time. I had already been looking to buy a 330 rear Ridgeback sooo this was the perfect time to do so. I don't mind working on my bike!!! I knew when I bought my original one that it was a custom bike and I would have to work on it or take it to someone else to work on. Either STFU and enjoy your bike or STFU and sell it!!!!!!!!!!

i do most of my own work as for older harleys ive had lots of those flatheads,knuckle,pans,shovels they were all good bikes just had to work on them. as for BigDog they are going thur a hard times but so is harley they are just bigger so they can take the hit alot better give BD a chance and start learning how to fix yourself what you can Ive got a great shop in champaign,il they help me alot and its a shop not a boutique like harley has become

And for those who did their research on here before buying - good for them for doing that but if you weren't allowed to post your negative experiences the research wouldn't have been worth a wank.

I agree that whining for whinings sake is pretty juvenile and just because you might have had a load of problems with your bike (like I have from almost day one to present day and BDM couldn't have been less helpful to me if they tried) doesn't mean every Big Dog is a bag of shit but I could go off on one some times with the crap I've been putting up with my bike. I choose not to but that's my choice - others take a different choice and that's their prerogative.

Are they a "custom". I guess the definition of the word is pretty subjective but to my mind, 25,000 manufactured bikes are not customs. Customs are one offs. Each to their own though - it matters not.

Gotta know what you're getting into BEFORE you get into it. I really don't think about whether my bike is going to leave me stranded somewhere or not when I take off on a ride. I do have some zip ties, safety wire and a tool kit so I'm prepared if stuff breaks.

It is normal for Big Dog owners to get a little defensive when someone comes on here and shares their dissatisfaction with their particular experience.

But in the end, we all help each other out to get you back on the road.

Chrome peeling off? Hey, that's not really BD's fault except for using a better chromer so the forum really can't help you there unless you want the name of a good/better one.

I think a major problem with the electronics of the newer dogs could be attributed to a lack of R&D on their switches, guages and EHCs. Electronic or electrical issues on a bike are the most troublesome and feared problems for an owner (IMO), consequently, they are prolly the most expensive too.

In an effort to take advantage of market demand during the big biker craze a few years ago, AND trying to have the most advanced product out there, it's possible that the product was put out before sufficient R&D was done and there you have it. Of course, this is just my opinion of what could of been the reason.

I'm one of these guys that once I buy something and take it home, I feel like it's my responsibility to fix it and stuff like that. Especially after the warranty runs out. Of course, mine is an 03, your experience may vary.
